GuestDear gia:
I remember that as a child I read a story about a girl who lived in the mountains with her aloof grandfather, helping him with his sheep. And that she ate sheep cheese and drank milk in that setting of the mountains, so I made myself a cheese sandwich and heated a glass of milk, eating and drinking it, pretending I was living in the mountains, in that storybook, another life, some other place.

ParticipantThanks anita, for giving me an additional idea — translating make-believe in the imagination to a periodic drama playdate.
Hope you are well 🙂

ParticipantWhat a great thing to do! One of the most fun things I did as a kid was exploring and going on adventures. Get in the car, visit a near by town or neighborhood you’ve never been to and wander, explore, walk into book stores, have a meal by yourself. Make sure to put your phone away because we didn’t have cell phones growing up – just our feet to follow!

ParticipantThat movie sounds like Heidi by Johanna,Spyri, children’s book classic! One thing my sisters and I used to do was right plays and then act them out with our dolls. I also used to ride my bike for hours, play on the swingset and jump rope. We didn’t have computers then. I also used to pretend I lived in a different country. Actually, I still use my imagination a lot! When I read or watch a movie I often imagine that I am the main character. Hope you have lots of fun and more memories! Holly-Kristine

ParticipantHi!
When I was a kid, I made forts, imaginary friends with paper, played tons of games with my sister (school, cash register, “native americans” where we would make our own settlement and whatnot), I played with barbies, the sims franchise, biking, went to garage sales with my grandmother, played games like “vampires” with my friends, etc. Those are the ones I remember the most 🙂

ParticipantHi Gia,
I lived next to fields with several siblings – always stuff going on. Ball sports, fishing in the brook, picking mushrooms/blackberries/rosehips, finding horses to ride very badly, spending hours just walking over the fields. Skipping, hoola hoops, skating, bike rides, card games, jigsaw puzzles, reading and working things out mathematically.

ParticipantWow, not how this post was resurrected, but I sure was glad! Its reemergence is a first kick in the bum to take care of my inner child. I had an intense period of inner work when I made the first post. Hope you all are well.

ParticipantHi gia,
When I sent my son to bed at night I would hear him playing imaginary space alien war games.
Let your inner child know that she will never be too old to play. Hope you are well.

ParticipantHello Gia,
My best friend and I would build a ramp and see how high and far we could jump our bikes. Many a good memory…and epic bike wrecks…
