January 19, 2023 at 7:50 am #414118MinaParticipantAnita, is it possible that my parents are doing wrong for right reasons?
January 19, 2023 at 8:41 am #414122AnonymousGuestDear Mina:
You already described wrong doings by your parents. But to answer your question more thoroughly, I am asking you:
Please take your time and patiently prepare two lists for me: (1) a detailed, specific list of what your mother did to you that was Wrong, (2) a detailed, specific list of what your father did to you that was Wrong. Can you do that?

January 19, 2023 at 7:36 pm #414144MinaParticipantIf i have to leave the house I have to have a job but my current doctor says I have some illness. I have to be independent. Right? But I have no access to money how can i learn? Like I have an Engineering degree. But just that won’t help I need to learn some additional coursework. My parents are refusing to give me money for computer course. What do I do?

Did you choose to not to respond to what I asked you 11 hours ago? If so, it’s okay: you don’t have to accommodate any of my requests. I just need to know if you chose to ignore my latest post?

I’m scared. Hope you understand.

I am sorry that you are scared and that you are living in a very difficult situation. Please do share what you feel comfortable sharing. I want your thread to be your safe place, a place where you are not scared.

January 21, 2023 at 4:20 am #414175MinaParticipantWhen i was a kid I had no friends. I never realized the importance of relationships. Now I want to make friends. But how with my mother asking me where I went with whom I went. How do I make friends? Is friendship about how useful I’m to the other?
January 21, 2023 at 5:10 am #414176MinaParticipantAlso, as a kid I read moral stories and was always honest, truthful and kind but it has all backfired. I have nobody to trust. My friends cheated me. They used to say they are not studying so I also wouldn’t study. Then they would still get good marks. That’s why I find it difficult to trust people.
January 21, 2023 at 7:45 am #414179AnonymousGuestDear Mina:
I want to put your recent two posts together with what you shared so far about yourself (I will boldface many of your words): you attended college and earned an engineering degree. You then had a few jobs but lost them. You got married twice but the first marriage ended in annulment and in the second, the husband demanded money. You were diagnosed with schizophrenia by one doctor, and with depression by another doctor. You’ve been on medications for 20 years. At one point, you did not have any schizophrenic episodes for 3 years. At about 30, you tried to leave your parents’ home, but their response was to take away your phone and put you in a rehabilitation center. You are now 40, living with your parents. You are not working and therefore, you are financially dependent on your parents. Recently the medication dosage prescribed to you has increased and your mind has been going blank. You are obese (a side effect of the medication) with type 2 diabetes.
One or both of your parents abused you (“My mother used to put hot knife on my body“), bribed your doctors, call you mad and stupid and say that if you go out, intelligent people will cheat you (ex. if you go shopping, people will charge more for fruits & vegetables), they neglected you (“My mom used to not give breakfast when I was growing up not even tea”), still criticize you (ex. how you dress), mock, tease and provoke you, misled you and are still misleading you, and your mother heavily controls you: she got you married twice to men you didn’t know, and wants to get you married again; she prevents you from going out for walks, or from leaving the house without an explanation to her. She prevents you from joining a class, like yoga; from having any hobby at home that costs money; from gardening, from studying and more. She refuses to give you money for a computer course and she won’t even give you pocket money.
You feel broken, scared, helpless, hopeless, lonely, scared, terrified, that nobody is on our side, and you find it difficult to trust people.
Is my summary accurate, Mina?

January 21, 2023 at 8:36 am #414181AnonymousGuestDear Mina:
In many countries there are programs to help people who are diagnosed with mental illnesses to live independently from their families (particularly when families are abusive to the person diagnosed with a mental illness), such as in group homes. Is there anything like that available to you?

January 21, 2023 at 9:19 am #414186AnonymousGuestDear Mina: is your home safe for you, and if so, in what ways is home safe?

January 21, 2023 at 9:05 pm #414193MinaParticipantI have to consider many limitations that I have. I’m 40 and I have already done work on an empty stomach foolishly. Now with type 2 diabetes if I stay in group housing with no job I think it is better to stay in this house. I will have to buy everything from scratch I have no money. Nobody is giving me job. I’m poor in socializing. The pros are less. Given such a situation I’m forced to live in these conditions only.
