Dear Anita,
Thank you for all the kind comments you have made about me and your appreciation. You have given so much over the years to people who have posted using your own wisdom and experiences to draw upon and now you have been able to receive someone else’s wisdom in return. The right person at the right time has appeared. As much as I might have given to you, I have also received back. Most people don’t ask the challenging questions that you have asked and your questioning has given me the opportunity to re-read material that has already been integrated into me but is not often in my conscious mind.
I have just referred to my Course Lessons and came across a paragraph on how the balance is maintained between oxygen and carbon dioxide (I knew it was there somewhere). “The ultimate factor in controlling respiration is chemical, and dependent upon a critical level of blood alkalinity being maintained. As soon as the presence of acid, resulting from a build up of carbon dioxide in the body, threatens the alkaline reserve of blood, there is stimulation of the respiratory center in the Medulla Oblongata (upper part of the spinal cord) which sends out nerve impulses to the respiratory muscles, and inhalation occurs, followed by exhalation and expulsion of carbon dioxide.”
If only we could all learn to let go and let our bodies do the amazing job for which they were designed and which we all take so much for granted and don’t even think about very often.
I also came across this text from my favorite secret mentor, William Lee Rand, which is relevant to what we discussed somewhere. “In the 1920’s and 1930’s, a distinguished researcher at Yale University School of Medicine, Harold Saxon Burr, suggested that diseases could be detected in the energy field of the body before physical symptoms appear. Moreover, Burr was convinced that diseases could be prevented by altering the energy field.
These concepts were ahead of their time, but are now being confirmed in medical research laboratories around the world. Scientists are using SQUID instruments to map the ways diseases alter biomagnetic fields around the body. Others are applying pulsating magnetic fields to stimulate healing. Again, sensitive individuals have been describing these phenomena for a long time but there was no logical explanation of how it could happen.”
SQUID stands for Superconducting Quantum Interference Device.
I hope the breathing exercises will bring you a more peaceful existence.
Kylin has been very quiet so I don’t know if she’s been reading these posts but if she is I would like to send her a note of appreciation for her post which has facilitated these discussions and reassure her that sometimes, even if she is not aware of it, she might just be saying the right things.
I will look for any future discussions on my new topic.
Take care.

August 18, 2019 at 7:17 am #308435AnonymousGuestDear Peggy:
What a gracious, heart warming post. I smile for the first time this Sunday because of your words to me and at the end of the post, to Kylin. You have a lot to offer people and you have been doing just that, here on this website. It is interesting, isn’t it, how people disappear from their threads so quickly, sometime after the very first original post. I figure even if the original poster in any one thread is no longer reading, maybe another member is reading silently, learning something valuable. This is my goal here: to learn. I realized long ago and expressed it here, that an ongoing, more and more thorough Learning is synonymous to Healing.
Thank you for the information you added here: a critical level of blood alkalinity needs to be maintained. Acid (too much CO2) needs to be eliminated so to maintain the alkalinity. I wonder what happens physiologically as a result of a chronic blood acidity. I will look for information on this elsewhere and will focus more and more on natural breathing.
I will also look for more information on what you mentioned: SQUID detecting biomagnetic energy fields around the body.
I am glad we communicated here, and unless Kylin is back here, I suppose her thread will join the many others in tiny buddha history record.

August 18, 2019 at 4:27 pm #308503KylinParticipantDear anita & peggy
I do appreciate all your posts and I certainly hope that more people can join in to the discussion. I have not read so much about the topics on healing, but i am very glad that information as such can be shared on this forum. I will certainly take time to read through the discussion.
Thank you both for the thoughtful posts !
August 18, 2019 at 5:29 pm #308505KylinParticipantDear Anita,
I read this paragraph “If you find your here and now intolerable, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally… If there something you ‘should’ be doing but are not doing? Get up and do it now or completely accept your inactivity at this moment.. Either way there is no conflict, no resistance, no negativity.”
I am rather ambivalent about the above paragraph. When would it be right to quit and how do people know if they are running away or if the environment is wrong for them? Are they quitters or are they making a change for themselves? Is the answer to the question only determined by people themselves? What if they are not able to determine for themselves? Do they leave, or do they stay?
Your posts on buddhism are thought provoking and it makes me look into myself and to think about where i stand. I read through your replies to peggy and I just wanted to say that your experience is enlightening and inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
Dear Peggy,
Your explanations on healing is so in depth and very informational, thank you for sharing. I think I will need to re-read to better umderstand the concepts of Reiki healing.
To both Anita and Peggy,
Thank you both for your contribution to this forum, putting in time and effort to helping people. I hope I can eventually become someone like both of you! I do realise that my posts are primarily about myself.
August 19, 2019 at 5:47 am #308539PeggyParticipantHi Kylin,
Welcome back. If you are considering having one or more Reiki treatments, please bear in mind that you, the client, just have to sit or lay back and allow Reiki to happen. There is no manipulation of the body, just the placement of hands and energy flow. The word “Reiki” is actually two words in Japanese “Rei” meaning universal and “Ki” meaning energy. The healer should just assist the energy to flow in its natural manner. It isn’t necessary for you to fully understand the concept for it to work.
If any more questions arise, please feel free to ask them.

Welcome back to your thread and you are very welcome, glad you are back!
“When would it be right to quit and how do people know if they are running away or if the environment is wrong for them? .. What if they are not able to determine for themselves? Do they leave, or do they stay?”-
I don’t think that I completely understand your questions to me but I will answer you best I can. You can then let me know if you would like me to answer something else or elaborate on any part that follows:
If you are in a situation where clearly there is abuse, for example, your job experience includes people yelling at you and calling you names- clearly you have to quit immediately.
If a situation involved distress for you but you are not sure if there is abuse, you are free to describe that situation here and I will gladly give you my input regarding it being abusive or not.
If a situation involves distress for you but there is no abuse there, do not quit it, not before thorough examination and study of the situation: what about it is distressing to you. Following such study, make a plan of change on your part, a plan to try adjusting this way and that way and seeing if those ways lessen the distress for you. You basically experiment with possible solutions. For example, you can ask to be moved within the company from a shared office or cubicle area to a private office or a different part of the building. In some companies it is even possible to arrange working from home.
If you are not able to determine whether you should stay or leave, that means you are overwhelmed, your thinking is not clear. That often happens when fear rules that space in between the ears, self doubt is strong. In that case, postpone your thinking to a time when you are calm.
Trying to think and figure things out when fearful, or anxious, self doubting, is like trying to see things through the fog. You can’t. Calming down is like clearing the fog, you can see then, when the fog is gone.
Again, for any specific situations, describe what those are and I will be glad to offer you my thoughts.

August 19, 2019 at 2:15 pm #308605KylinParticipantDear Peggy and Anita,
having re read the explanations on reiki healing, theres a part i am really interested in, “Energy follows thought. Thought creates. Everything in creation had to be thought about first. ”
From what i understand, reiki healing works on the energy flow, however, what if the client has strong persistent thoughts? Would Reiki assist in ways to relieve the emotional turmoil caused by the thought? Would a shift in energy flow change thought process or would it not be possible, since thought creates energy but energy does not create thought? should i post my questions on your new topic instead?
For a specific situation which i would be in, stems largely from my extreme fear of mistakes, e.g. saying the wrong things, missing information, making mistakes, etc. At work I do seem to keep making new mistakes, more so than others, sometimes saying the wrong things, and sometimes accidentally omitting the necessary information. somehow, i can agonise over an email for hours, and then send it out and not realise i left out an information only until months later when the other party replies. its mortifying.
in fact, i overthink so much to the point i wake up almost everyday, with about 5 hours or less of sleep thinking of work and where i did wrong, and basically cry the minute i jolt awake. its literally a jolt where i wake up with somewhat a gasp and i say omg oh no no no im so scared to myself, its exhausting. at work i would think about what could go wrong, and fall into analysis paralysis because i am so afraid of getting something wrong again. my mind at times would go blank, i had shivers at times too but rare, just from thinking about my mistakes and possible future mistakes.
the situation is not abusive, i would in fact say my boss has been very patient with me which i appreciate a lot. in fact, i had been in fear so much there were times my voice shook while speaking with her, not because she was an abusive or unreasonable boss but because i was afraid of my own mistakes, which i am making a lot of. i think she could visibly tell i was in distress when i spoke to her, though she might be confused as to the why and on her part she had been so patient. unfortunately, its not something i can share with her.
i am torn thinking if i am just unsuitable for my job, or if i shouldnt go because its a thought process matter and i will just face the same problem somewhere else. but then again, am i just running away? how do i know if its really something i am not cut out for, or if i should be really checking myself instead of pinning the cause on my job? my boss is great, but i am already thinking of leaving because i cant bear to stay any longer.
any advice would be most helpful. thank you so much.

It will be better if you address Peggy and me separately and that all your questions regarding Reiki healing will be addressed to Peggy (all I know about reiki is in my few posts here, on your thread).
Regarding the part of your recent post in which you replied to my post to you earlier today, I will read and reply to when I am back to the computer. It may be tomorrow morning, about 15 hours from now.

August 20, 2019 at 1:15 am #308675PeggyParticipantHi Kylin,
I can relate to your fear of making mistakes as I can inwardly cringe if I’ve omitted to do something which then leads to criticism either by myself or others. I, too, can spend hours on an email trying to get the wording exactly right. It is not “mortifying” to omit some information. This is like saying that you want to die. It’s a complete over-reaction and if it takes months for the other person to reply, then it wasn’t that important in the first place. The more stressed you are, the more mistakes you are likely to make. However, “new” mistakes are an opportunity to learn.
The things that you are describing come from being in a stressed state. Lack of sleep, worrying, mind going blank, shivers, trembling voice. Wondering what you might have done wrong and worrying what you might do wrong in the future are two areas that you could delete from your internal dialogue. One way you are focusing on the past and you cannot change the things that you did and the other way you are focusing on the future which is unknown.
Both stress consultancy and reiki are therapies that are designed to help you relax. As a stress consultant, I would talk to you so that I could establish how you came to be in this stressed state. The treatments, by which I mean the tools that I would give you to use, would be breathing techniques, visualization, guided meditation aimed at muscle relaxation and a ‘reprogramming’ of the mind whilst you were in a receptive state, similar to hypnosis.
There are lots of guided meditations on the market which would help you in this way. Perhaps you could begin by obtaining one which is designed to help you sleep better.
In Reiki there is a principle which says “Just for today do not worry”. This is aimed at the student of Reiki who is also just as likely to fall foul of emotional disturbance etc. as anyone else. Can Reiki change your thoughts? This is an interesting question which I think Anita also asked. We all have to take responsibility for ourselves and our thoughts can only be changed in as much as we want them to. When we realize that certain thoughts might be damaging to us, we might then be willing to release them i.e. not have them any more.
Reiki works on the subtle energy levels and can help heal wounds, internal and external. Some people tell me that I “took their pain away”. If I take someone’s pain away, felt as physical pain, this would then lead me to believe that their emotional pain (feeling) had been reduced or removed and then their thought might be “I am no longer in pain”. This would then go on to lift their spirits. (Mind, body, spirit, emotions). Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explore this with you.
If you weren’t stressed before you took this job and you are now, then that would be an indication that you need to change.
Whilst your posts are specific to you, I would prefer that you stay with this link.

“At work I do seem to keep making new mistakes, more so than others.. I can agonise over an email for hours… it’s mortifying… I overthink so much… My mind at times would go blank… I had shivers at times ”
– your anxiety predates your current job; you described it well when you were a student I 2016 (previous thread).
-If your job involves the physical safety of people, such as if you were a surgical nurse or one directing airplane landings, then better not having those jobs, given your level of anxiety.
Consider then what are the real life dangers that can be caused by your mistakes, in your current job: who gets hurt and how?
-What is happening is that you get fearful and you work yourself up into a frenzy. It is as if there is a breeze going and you stir it up to create a powerful wind storm. It is very important for you to learn relaxation techniques that you can use when you first sense the breeze, before you stir it up into a wind storm.
-“its exhausting at work”, feeling fear is very tiring, this is why an animal escaping a predator by running, once it reaches safety, it rests for a long, long time, doing nothing. Fear is exhausting. Again, it is very important that you learn relaxation techniques (taught in guided meditations such as Mark William’s Mindfulness series). Less anxious, more relaxed and you will not be exhausted. Not exhausted, you will perform better at work and elsewhere.
-Notice that it is your fear of making mistakes that is causing you to make more mistakes. It is not just that your fear is not helping you, it is harming you. I used to believe that if I fear something, it will help the situation; I will be more careful or come up with solutions.
But not so- to be careful and to come up with solutions a person needs to be adequately relaxed. Somewhat alert but just a bit. More than alert- and all that extra fear is acting against you.
-It is possible, and it is for you to consider, or not, that maybe you don’t like your life the way it is, maybe it is not so much the job but something else. Maybe you don’t want to support your family, it being a burden for you, and you are motivated to mess up and quit or to be fired.
