Do you think life itself is divine? If so, how do you know? How would you define divinity?

    Hi Brian

Personally, I do think life is divine.

I was raised in a cult and I went from being an agnostic atheist to actually believing in some kind of higher power because Iā€™ve had a range of unusual experiences.

I think itā€™s hard to suffer and believe that thereā€™s no reason for it. Overall, my experiences of suffering have made me a kinder person and I do my best to learn from them. The lessons are hard, for sure. But Iā€™ve been very lucky to have good things happen in my life too. Life is a delicate balance.

Learning to cope with depression has taught me that there are many beautiful experiences that emotionally we sometimes close ourselves off to when weā€™re not coping well, yet they still happen all around us. The trick is learning to pay attention to these experiences and appreciate them even when we donā€™t feel like it.

Iā€™m curious to hear your thoughts about life and divinity?

Wishing you all the best! šŸ™

It seems that a lot of supernatural concepts are difficult to define. In the past, humans used supernatural explanations to fill the gaps in our knowledge. There are things we can test and quantify to see what is alive and what isnā€™t. How do we test what cause is supernatural and what isnā€™t?

    Hi Brian

Yes, I agree itā€™s difficult to define and everyone has their own unique definition.

For me, statistic unlikeliness is a factor. Iā€™ve had a lot of unusual things happen. Thereā€™s only so many times that I felt I could say thatā€™s a coincidence!

I guess, I also feel like my life is a preset path that Iā€™m just walking along. An element of fate, if you will.

And the last thing for me is Iā€™ve always been quite sensitive to the emotions and natures of other people, so I believe in souls.

And no matter the difficulties I experience, it might take time, even sometimes a long time. But for me tough times usually get better. It does take work though.

Iā€™ve been quite lucky because a lot of people donā€™t get the help they need in life. Iā€™ve been fortunate to have plenty of people help me along the way.

Iā€™ve come close to death a lot over my life. I honestly didnā€™t think Iā€™d make it to 30 or have a husband and a family. Yet, here I am. Despite the difficulties Iā€™ve experienced, I was somehow born with hope and resilience in my nature.

Is there a reason that youā€™re thinking about this topic at the moment?

I was reading the book The 4 Agreements and it has a lot of elements from Eastern religions like pantheistic beliefs. I wish supernatural beings would communicate with me. That would be cool. I just donā€™t think it has happened.

A happy good morning to you Brian.

Do I think life is divine?  It depends upon oneā€™s definition of divine as in your 3rd question above.

To me, if divinity has anything to do with religion (and it usually does), then I throw it all out.  As I see it, religion is man-made (oh my on that one right?) so it has little to no value when talking about spirituality.

So if one wants to say life is divine, (religiously speaking) then great. Go with that.

I say if the word divine means nice, loving, wonderful, etcā€¦ then my reply to your initial question is yes.

As to your 2nd question, the answer lies within.  When you remove your ā€œthinking mindā€, and look for answers within, within your, the deeper you, then many answers arise.  You feel or hear the deeper you (or the collective if you will) and there is ā€œthe truthā€.  Your answers.

GREAT book isnā€™t it.  LOVE it!

Brian my friend, Iā€™d rather not get hung up on definitions due to over analyzing (though other times definitions are important), but regarding supernatural beingsā€¦ā€¦.. 1) To humans my friend, they are supernatural.  2) If you are talking about the supernatural being those who ā€œpassed onā€, then yes, you can indeed talk with them.  It is a matter of learning how.

Sometimes the supernatural does indeed talk to humans.   In a voice as we know it. Sometimes through a feeling. (It is more like communicate than talk per se.)  Sometimes through smell or things that happen around you.

Hopefully the above is shedding some light on the matters you brought up.

It is GREAT to ask questions.  It is the beginning of a wonderful adventure into the spirit world, why we are here, etcā€¦. FUN stuff too.

Life has no meaning unless one gives it one. Life is divine when one travels the spiritual path.

How would you define a spiritual path?

    Hi Brian

    Lovely to see you again!

I think thereā€™s a great deal of variety in spiritual paths. Different religions and different practices, different beliefs. It very much depends on the individual.

Do you feel like youā€™re on a spiritual path? If so, what does that look like to you?

For me, I was raised Christian. My husband is Buddhist and heā€™s very into his Buddhist/Daoist practices. I do some Buddhist and Daoist practices too. Sometimes I go to Church and pray. I have vaguely Christian beliefs but there are differences. I donā€™t see different religions as having different Gods and instead believe in a generic higher power. I donā€™t believe in discrimination against gay people or other peopleā€™s religions.

Wishing you all the best! šŸ™ā¤ļø

I just thought of something else. Sometimes it can also be tied to morality. I believe in helping people and being kind to people.

Iā€™m curious to hear your thoughts!

How would you define a spiritual path?

Defining ā€˜spiritualā€™ as a way of seeing, being and becoming, all paths are spiritual paths, and everything encountered a reflection of the divine. ā€˜Treat all you meet like G_dā€™ šŸ™‚

Avoiding the tendency to mistake the word God (our rules, ideas and measurements) for God, (lead us not into such temptation.) I use the word G_d, and the word divine, to point to the Transcendent. The idea being to become transparent to the Transcendent.

The light in me sees the light in youā€¦ Transparent, the light within illuminates  all, the light within all illuminates meā€¦

As above so below ā€“ on earth as it is in heaven, as below so above ā€“ forgiven as we forgiveā€¦ Smaller then small bigger then big,  Co-creators, how we see and are matters.

Iā€™m more of a naturalist and do not like to use the word spiritual because it is usually associated with supernatural beings and beliefs. Some equate a spiritual experience to an emotional high. There are forces in the universe. So far, I donā€™t feel the need to personify them. Spiritual beings are welcome to communicate with me. I donā€™t think they have yet.

    Hi Brian

I think it depends on the person but nature can be a spiritual experience. That is fair that you donā€™t like the word spiritual. Each to their own. šŸ˜Š

I wouldnā€™t say that spirituality leads to an emotional high all of the time. It certainly can sometimes. There are specific meditations I do that benefit mood. Church for me gives similar emotions to any group gathering where people are happy like concerts or football. It is also a wonderful experience meeting kind people. Iā€™m also a fan of nature and that gives my mood a boost too.

Wishing you all the best! ā¤ļøšŸ™
