If you have nothing but a caring family, believe me, you are rich.

Tell people what you love about them. Less criticism, more compliments.

Do what you can, when you can, with as much love and honesty as you can, and when you can’t, rest.

Being told you’re appreciated is one of the simplest yet most incredible things you can ever hear.

Be kind to one another. Say a word or two of encouragement. You never know who may need those gentle reminders more than anything today.

Sometimes you don’t need words to make you feel better. You just need the nearness of your dog.

If today gets difficult, remember the smell of coffee, the way sunlight bounces off a window, the sound of your favorite person’s laugh, the feeling when a song you love comes on, the color of the sky at dusk, and that we are here to take care of each other.

If speaking kindly to plants can help them grow, imagine what speaking kindly to humans can do.

Please remember to check in on your strong friend, your busy friend, your happy friend, your ‘seems to handle everything well’ friend.

You can be whoever you want to be. Just be honest and kind. And be the kind of person who helps others see their worth and beauty.

People will teach you how to love by not loving you back. People will teach you how to forgive by not apologizing. People will teach you kindness by their judgment. People will teach you how to grow by remaining stagnant. Pay attention when you’re going through pain and mysterious times. Listen to the wisdom life is trying to teach you.

I will never be that friend who calls you every day, but I will always be that friend you can rely on when your world collapses.

I love you. You’re probably thinking, ‘You don’t even know me.’ But if people can hate for no reason, I can love.

I’m beginning to suspect that the second half of life is about learning to let go of everything I feverishly collected over the first half that wasn’t loving or human.

Having a smart brain is not enough. We also need a warm heart.

Wherever you go, leave a heartprint.

You’ll never have to negotiate your way into a heart that wants you there.

Kindness is choosing love over hate, light over darkness, compassion over judgment.

Be like an elephant: Remember what matters, look out for your herd, and don’t be afraid to take up space.

You can’t be everyone’s hero. You can’t take away everyone’s pain, solve all their problems, and make them feel happy with themselves and their lives. All you can do is love them, and that’s all you have to do. Just love them in their messiness, their confusion, their grief. See them, hear them, and accept them without judgment. Then let them know it’s okay to be right where they are, and if and when they need you, you’ll be there.
