Canadian EagleParticipantWith the internet we now all have the opportunity to air our concerns and emotions on forums, many of these forums are public so we all need to be careful not share too much personal details that would reveal our identity , so we all tweak the facts , different names, dates and locations, that sort of thing. But, the emotional essence and important facts supporting the emotions are accurate to provide context for the reader.
Recently I was on a public forum and shared details of a long running emotional struggle as I value insights and suggestions from others. One participant reading my posts discovered some inconsistencies in my many updates and replies , issues with date sequencing mostly. This led this participant to accuse me of being a lier, writing this in very strong terms.
My question now is when is the truth a lie, Â how far do you have to go in protecting you identity on a public forum before your truth becomes a lie. Whatâs are acceptable identity protecting tactics and at what stage do these tactics distort the truth to the extent that your truth becomes a lie ?

Sometime it is pathetic to tell the truth rather than lying. I would advice you it is impossible to force the object to move. So if that guy doesn’t agree what you had shared then it is up to him /her. Always stand at your words knowing you are telling the truth but not a skimming lie.
Just ignore and continue with your own life. Or otherwise tell him you are right just to cut the story short.

Thank you for your kind words, you are indeed correct when you advise to ignore negative people. If someone falsely calls you a liar, just get on with you life. Life ultimately is about attracting positive energy. Deciding how to respond is where freedom lives. Victor Frankl who wrote the book âManâs Search for Meaningâ learnt in during his time in a concentration camp that freedom resides between stimulus and response. You may have no control over the events of your life , but you have control over how you respond. Often your response is not action, but how you decide to emotionally respond.

That is not to say that the spirit and meaning of the bible are untruths, quite the opposite actually, but the factual details of every parable often donât pass a rigours fact based truth test.

Engagement in social media requires a certain amount of discernment. In someways it can be used as a tool to revival ones true self just or as a tool to conceal it. The question as to what is a truth or lie about oneself can only be answer by the self asking it.
Protecting identity though tactics might suggest the involvement of ego. As most social media dialog is with people we do not know a other questions we might ask ourselves: what is identity, what am I protecting and why do I feel the need to protect it in the ways that I do?
From a different perspective,as we often don’t know the persons we are talking to, dialog on any social media site can be viewed as dialog with oneself. A great tool to discovering things about oneself, clarifying thoughts and such. But a difficult tool engagement with others honestly and with compassion. Of course that also reveals something about ourselves.
We must put our confidence in truth. But that doesn’t mean sitting back, and waiting for the truth to shine from above, as one might sit back and wait for the day to break. It means following with devoted obedience the truth we have seen as true, with an entire confidence that life will correct, clear and redirect our vision, to the perception of a freer and deeper truth.
Go with the truth you have, and let it carry you into collision with the hard rocks of life, and then you’ll learn something.
Of course Learning requires a openness to being wrong, capable of being brutally honest with one self, no easy task in my experience.
