Dear Hero:
About saying wishing you the best, etc., sounding like I am ending a friendship- English is not my first (or second) language, so sometimes I misuse words and terms. I am not focused now, so I’ll read and reply Sat morning, goodnight, Hero!

I like chatting with you too, Hero.
“Things could have gotten so bad where child protective services could have been called on me and I could have been labeled as a unfit parent“- anyone can report a parent to Child Protective Services (CPS) but it takes enough evidence to convince a judge, following an investigation, that a parent is unfit. To be labeled unfit by a judge, it takes proving that the parent does not have his or her child’s best interest in mind. From all that you shared through the years, you’ve had both your children’s best interest in mind and heart.
You wrote in your most recent post: “the job that I end up doing would have to work around my son’s school schedule“- this is evidence that your highest priority is your son’s best interest.
* CPS personnel knows that no parent is perfect, so imperfections by themselves are not basis to determine that a parent is unfit.
“I’m 31 turning 32 soon… In the past Iāve been a stay at home mom for the child with cerebral palsy, Certified Nurse Assistant, Cashier, Security Officer (these jobs donāt fit my son’s schedule) . Now currently, a Preschool teacher/assistant for 9 months…Preschool teacher pay is low and I work super hard… I was thinking of becoming a school bus driver. Iād have to become cdl trained Iām Ā nervous …Ā I donāt want minimum wage or to stress about finding childcare. This is hard . hero”- driving a school bus for a living reads good to me if it pays significantly better than your current job.
indeed. com/ career advice reads: “School bus drivers typically get paid by the hour. That rate can vary depending on the school, geographic location and the driverās experience and safety record… Most schools require their bus drivers to have at least a high school diploma or GED…Ā School bus drivers typically complete several months of training. They might spend some of this training in the classroom learning rules, routes and safe practices. They will spend the other part of their training showing their ability to drive the bus and follow traffic laws. New drivers might also spend time alongside an experienced driver until they can drive on their own… School bus drivers must have a commercial driverās license (CDL). There are different types of CDLs, but school bus drivers must have one that says (S) on it, showing they have passed additional tests specific to school buses…
“School bus drivers must follow several mandatory steps to get licensed. These include: 1. Completing high school… 2. Completing training… 3.Ā Getting hired… 4.Ā Maintain license:Ā Drivers will need to pass physical exams every two years to maintain a license to drive a school bus”.
There is much more in that website, if you want to look at it. I am guessing that you are thinking about working as a bus driver in the same school district you are currently working for, or maybe another school district in your area, and each pays a different salary and benefits: something for you to investigate.
“I’m nervous“, you wrote. Even heroes feel nervous, so I am not surprised that you are feeling nervous.

If nobody else cares about my sons future I do . Yes becoming a driver is on my to-do list . A lot of people have supportive family members and friends who help raise young children Ā (like picking them up and dropping them to school or watching them for a few hours ) Ā I donāt have any of that so Im figuring out how to be a mom and earn a decent income all by myself. Iām learning from my mistakes . Itās not easy . Its hard most of the time . But it gives me peace knowing that the important things we need are covered because Iām the provider .

“A lot of people have supportive family members and friends who help raise young children… I donāt have any“- it would have been nice if you had supportive family.
“It’s hard most of the time . But it gives me peace knowing that the important things we need are covered because Iām the provider“- you are the provider and it is hard most of the time, yet you do it, day after day.. admirable!
“Hero ā a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements“- amazing: when I wrote “admirable” right above, it was before I read this sentence (this morning), not having your word “admired” in mind. So, we both agree!
“I think Iām making plans too fast . I want higher pay but Iām not ready . I have to do one thing at a time . First I have to move to a new apartment Ā then I can change careers . Iām causing myself stress . I want better for myself“- Moderation and Patience are key, one thing at a time, one step at a time… you got it, Hero!

I couldn’t word it better. You can repeat this to yourself as a mantra (quietly or out loud), so to keep your focus and motivation where it should be. “One step, One goal, One good decision at a time“!

September 5, 2022 at 6:32 am #406639AnonymousInactiveHi Anita,
Happy Monday !
The thought of Ā everything working out for me gives me butterflies in my stomach. This morning I was looking through old notes in my cellphone and on May 9 2021 at 2:24am I wrote about getting my Ged and now I have it but it took a whole year to earn it . It wasnt easy I had to earn money to purchase a specific type of laptop, lots of studying, I had to block people that I love from contacting my cellphone, I criedddd a lot . Crying while I type this message. One day Iām gonna have a success story to tell because despite of all the pain I endured Iām still improving myself.Ā My pain makes my success story unique because sometimes I didnāt know how I was going to survive but I always do.
āOne step, One goal, One good decision at a timeā!ĀHero

Happy Monday to you, amazing Hero. I wish that everyone had the opportunity to read your sucess testimony above, it’s uniquely written and very inspiring!
You worked for a whole year to earn your Ged; it was difficult, costly, emotionally taxing… and yet, you made it!
“One day Iām gonna have a success story to tell because despite of all the pain I endured Iām still improving myself“- you already have a success story to tell, an ongoing- continuingĀ story. Thank you for telling it!
“My pain makes my success story unique because sometimes I didnāt know how I was going to survive but I always do“- this sentence should be framed and hung on the wall.. on many walls in many places- for people to read and be inspired by.
