    Dear Cullotta:

“I feel like I’ve ruined everything”- this pandemic and economical shut down is not your doing, is it?

Job and industry trends is not your doing either, is it?

Please tell me what  it is that you ruined.

    Hi anita

I should have made such better choices. I had no idea how things worked. Even now I can’t figure out what to do. I was so inexperienced and stupid. I let everyone take advantage of me. I wish I could find a way in life. I feel like I’ve blown it.

Sure bad things happen but it’s still a responsibility as an adult to arrange your own education and find your own opportunities. I have messed that up. I don’t know where to go with myself from here and that’s my fault.

    Dear Cullotta:

“I should have made such better choices”- the people that did make better choices are now (and will be as the economy continues to deteriorate) where you are, same place- because of the virus, and because people in powerful positions made poor choices that affect all of us, they made poor choices for all of us.

What I am saying is, no matter how many good choices you would personally made in the past, you, (I and everyone), would still be in bad shape today, because people in positions of power (CEOs of corporations, politicians, and such) in each and every country, make poor choices for all of us, before the pandemic and leading to the pandemic.

“I let everyone take advantage of me”- maybe you let individual people take advantage of you (as I did, in the past), but we are all being taken advantage of, not having a choice about it: from soldiers being sent to fight unnecessary wars, losing their lives or otherwise suffering painful lifetime injuries, to taxpayers working hard all their lives, to see their tax money squandered away by politicians, examples are so many. My point is that the sad, tragic reality is that we are all taken advantage of by people we never met in person, those people in power over our lives.

Forgive yourself for not successfully arranging for your education, for not finding opportunities.. “I have messed that up”- I remember feeling this way, what a torture it was, to feel this way. Now, I am okay with having made the many mistakes I’ve made. I hope you will soon be okay with it as well, knowing you have lots, and lots of company with people making poor choices.

At this point, today, from this moment on, do the best you can, aware of what power you do have, and what power you don’t have. And post here anytime you want to. I’ll be glad to read from you and reply to you.

    Hi Culotta,

I would join the military. Even at your age. They will take care of you to some degree. They do “raise you” again. I saw a tremendous transformation in my son. He is still the same guy, but he carries himself with a confidence that is through the roof.

Then I would have the military help pay for the rest of your education. Get a degree, even if it’s online.

Then I would open my own business. Something small but life affirming. Dog grooming. Baking. Social media consultant.

I would also volunteer in my community, go to a place of worship and even run for a public office. Military rank? Degree? Local business? Public servant? You will rake in those connections. And you will meet quality romantic partners. Soon you will have the stable two income family you crave.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Anita

Thank you for your posts, they are rational and thought-provoking. I appreciate the time you have taken to read what I wrote and reply.

    Hi Inky

If I could live my life again I would have enlisted in the RAF and worked as a computer technician or electronics specialist. Or a computer repair apprenticeship through a company or the army. That ship has long sailed, military or apprenticeships are not an option.

Volunteer orgs have a surprisingly strict regime due to their high applicant rate. And being a business is a joke. I’m a loose end. Anyway it’s not anyone else’s problem. I need to figure this all out.
