    Dear asklychee:

    What an UNUSUAL post. Unusual.

I didn’t know the meaning of the word “lyches”, googled it- it is a fruit of some sort. Why is your user name “ask lychee” and why do you refer to the readers as “dear lychees”???

I will have more questions if you answer this one.

    Anita,

One might imagine that posts in this forum involve members sharing their personal truth–in whatever form it may come. These forums are meant to provide safe places for people to express themselves and connect to others. Your post here is abusive and inexcusable.

    Hello asklychee,

congratulation on taking this step which seems to be very exciting for you.
I too would like to see Anitas reasonable question answered though.

    * Note to Jo: how in your mind is my post “abusive and inexcusable?” I would like to examine your thinking on the matter- what in my comment triggered you to feel distress and to form this strong conclusion?

I agree with Anita. her post is not abusive.

But getting back to original post.

You know what you hate. Now work on what you love.
I hope you find meaning in your life now and get a good work/life balance. From my experience, finding that alternative career is the hard part. Hope you are more successful than me.
But you sound a lot more talented than I.

Oh my gosh, how exciting! You’re free!! You can do anything you want.

Yep your post relates to me and before I go on – I am delighted also to see the word lychees – I have neither heard nor used this word for 20 years then suddenly this week I have heard and used it about 3 times from random directions. To me, this is, not a sign, but something to notice.

So yes back to you. How exciting!! When you push the plunger, blow everything you know up and see what happens – or doesn’t happen. I am used to doing such and I respect to anyone who takes the plunge. to feel the fear and do it anyway.

It’s not for everyone and for some it’s completely impossible to contemplate. I too am stuck in a corporate rut – we all are. We didn’t ask to be born to slave away for The Man. to put our hopes and dreams aside in favour of making some fat cat more money. Very few of us do jobs we actually enjoy and that matters to us. I wish I could do what you are doing now – I’ve done it in the past but I jumped back into the same routine

For me – well.. self delusion is the key to happiness. They can tell me I have to work or I won’t eat. They can tell me I have to spend more of my actual waking hours in this chair at this desk than I even spend with the people I love and am working for… but they cant tell me HOW to get to work, what to dream about, what to look at, which route I walk to work, how fast I walk etc. that’s my freedom and in terms of the corporate world it’s all I’ve got

however. hee. I also sit here on the work computer with my CBT study book in hand and what started as researching negative thinking for my assignment has turned in to joining a forum for thinky and feely people. I feel right a home.,

    Dear Lychee,

You gotta take it one day at a time man. Things have changed now and you arent living in the banking world anymore.

3 things you gotta focus on –

    – Hit the gym and lose the weight, exercise and your lethargy will start to lift and the emotions will find an outlet
    – sleep better (will get taken care of by gym)
    – write your thoughts in a diary and dont re-read them

Right now, your brain is swimming with possibilities but you need to allow your mind to calm down and focus. You got one life and do whatever it takes to stay healthy and happy. You’re only 28 and there are long, good years ahead of you. Figuring out things and trying to understand your own story and needs is a process that is quite difficult but keep going. Its your journey.
