    Dear mpv:

    This is a powerful statement: “the thought of cutting him completely out of my life feels like losing an arm or leg”- a strong attachment there.

    You wrote that he is an emotionally crippled man. I think that most people are. Didn’t start that way, but made so early on. I think that old lovers can really be friends, absolutely. As long as it is a win-win friendship where you help each other, it is a friendship worth having.

    Hi mpv,

    Usually it’s when you meet another man that the laze about lover suddenly gets serious. As long as you’re letting yourself have other romances and not pining away for this guy, I think it’s OK. He may always be that One Special Friend. Just don’t actively hold a torch for him.

    The most powerful three word sentence can be: “I’ve met somebody”.
