Tiny Wisdom: On Hard Times

“Whenever something negative happens to you, there is a deep lesson concealed within it.” -Eckhart Tolle

Things might not happen for a reason, but we can always find a reason to move on enriched.

We can let disappointments devastate us, or we can move on in humility, finding opportunities within the hardship.

We can let frustrations consume us, or we can foster a sense of peace and balance, choosing not to live in a constant state or reaction to our circumstances.

We can let dissatisfaction gnaw away at our spirits, assuming it’s too late to create life as we want to experience it, or we can live powerfully in the now, choosing every day to do something that makes us feel fulfilled.

These are the options we’re given in life—to drown in our sorrow about what we can’t control, or soar in the possibilities of everything we can.

What do you choose today?

I choose to live through the times that make me smile and accept my mistakes as the cornerstones for a better future-self.

I couldn’t have read this at a better time, to be honest.

I’ve recently given up drinking. The reason? I hurt a whole lot of people. Embarrassed myself. And put my career in jeopardy.

If I could go back and change those 24 hours, I would do a lot of things differently. I won’t say that I’m happy about the decisions I’ve made. I even had myself a little pity party. Almost even convinced myself I deserve to be miserable. But you know what, you can’t hide from the people you’ve screwed up with. So…I decided upon a change.

It’s really that simple. Thanks for the post.

Choice is all we have! And if we do not choose, it will be chosen for us. So let us finally take the risk to choose who we are.

Thank you for this today!

[…] peed in my pants and got goosebumps (simultaneously) when I read the following quote from a new favorite blog: These are the options we’re given in life–to drown in our sorrow about what we can’t […]

You are most welcome!

Hi Jay,

I can relate to your situation in a big way. I’ve had my moments with alcohol. The regret and shame you experience when you’ve lost control in front of other people is overwhelming, to say the least.

I’m glad you’ve realized you don’t deserve to be miserable and that you’re making a positive change instead of getting down on yourself. Mistakes happen and it sounds like you’re moving on admirably. I really admire that =)

In the daily hustle and bustle of life, you are moving too fast without realizing there is suprise right at the corner.. I believe if you do not learn easy way, life teaches you the lesson hard way… and instead of regretting over it… learn from it and move as strong and enriched !
