For the past few months I have been experiencing an array of new things. I feel like I have grown a lot. But tonight I have become concerned. Recently I have been crying a lot, and very heavily. I always anticipate the crying.. I’ll notice this deep subtle ache either moments or sometimes hours before. At first I won’t even know why I am crying, but as I release and let myself go deeper I’ll remember what it was that hurt me. I allow myself to feel freely. Afterwards, I recognize that I have just let something go and I feel much better. I do not feel like I am suffering. Everyone who I have shared this with seems to be concerned. It was not until tonight that I started to feel a bit crazy.. I am bouncing back and forth so rapidly between feeling wounded to feeling infinite beauty. One moment I am sobbing about some childhood memory, and the next, I am wanting to bake cookies and tell people they are beautiful. What is going on?

It sounds like you are caught between The Dark Night of the Soul and Awakening. But get this ~ sometimes our very bodies make us do that. Check your doctor in case you have a Vitamin D deficiency or if something is off. Then if nothing is physically wrong, see someone if it lasts for weeks/months on end. Don’t try to knuckle through it. You don’t have to, and frankly, our culture and lifestyles don’t support it or know what to do with it. It is CRAZY HARD to go through this if you have school, family and/or work. Trust me. I know.
I went through this ten years ago and I finally said to Them/It/The Universe “ENOUGH! I don’t have the band-width for this!” Maybe next lifetime I’ll go through it again and allow it.
See a doctor if you haven’t been this year,
Inky

Also, if a person is too emotional, sometimes they cant even figure the reason for their crying. Same thing happens with anxiety and panic attacks I’ve heard that sometimes there is a reason like social anxiety while at other times it happens due to something that might have been repressed and is finally ready to exit. They tell us to observe it without judging but its tough I guess. Another thing is about extremities, high and low. Recently I listened to a video and the lady said, in these times of turmoil and change, its a good thing if a person is able to stay positive but if its not possible its good to stay neutral because if one gets too depressed it becomes exhausting to bring yourself back to the neutral state, let alone the positive state. Mutual feelings and struggles. Nice to know that you are able to stay positive and bake cookies for other people. Lucky them 🙂 Good luck to you

November 15, 2015 at 1:29 pm #87541AnonymousGuestDear Moonpedal:
When you get in touch with your emotional pain you also get in touch with your joy and excitement. When you bury the pain, dissociate from it, you also bury the joy and excitement and loving feelings.

What you are going through sounds very normal for the type of awakening that you are having at the moment. However, I would encourage you to look into talking to a GOOD, ideally Jungian therapist for some guidance. Or at least find someone to talk to whom you know to have been through their own “awakening” at some point and can understand the emotional and painful aspects of this. THere is nothing about healing that is meant to be easy, but not everyone can see this since our culture equates feeling good with being happy. THat said, it can be dangerous and disconcerting to try to go through this process all alone. Much peace. –Liz
November 16, 2015 at 9:52 am #87644AnonymousGuest* Dear Lizzie:
Can you write more about your experience with emotional awakening of this kind? The actual experience of emotions before and during awakening? And why it is dangerous to try to go through this process all alone???

November 16, 2015 at 9:56 am #87645AnonymousGuest* I am asking, Lizzie, because I am going through such. It is very uncomfortable at times and it was scary at times. I use the past tense because I am not scared right this moment. It seems to me that it only SEEMED dangerous but is not actually dangerous. I am trying to help someone who is just starting this process, or is considering starting it. I am not any type of professional and I am very interested to read your view about it being dangerous- I do not want to hurt the person I am trying to help???

November 16, 2015 at 1:29 pm #87664SaiishaParticipantMoonpedal, there is also the Kundalini (spiritual energy) awakening process within yogic tradition, if you’re interested in eastern philosphy. There’s a lot of information online about it, but here’s a good starting point – an interview on SoundsTrue: http://www.soundstrue.com/store/weeklywisdom/?page=single&category=IATE&episode=1385
