I’m an unashamed Christian. What’s happening to the world? Are we all falling for exotic religions like Buddhism? That belongs to China and Japan surely. Oh Thailand too I think.
Western countries like the USA are predominantly Christian and should stay that way. I won’t even start on that awful religion from the middle east. It is fundamentally flawed.
Jesus Christ saved my life, my soul and it can save yours. Meditate all you like, but pray to God the Father in heaven. That’s the key! That’s is the key to happiness in this life and the next one too! Stop wasting your life on false Gods! Jesus Christ is your saviour and Lord! Read your bible. Get the bible on your phone, tablet or ipad. Read the bible and then, you’ll finally realise that this is the one and only path to salvation. Jesus ! Jesus! Jesus!November 14, 2015 at 1:06 am #87469iAmJayParticipantWhat do you mean stay that way? Why should other people practise your religion just because it works for you? Christianity is falling to bits, religion is not the answer for every body, aside from That,us of America is a multi cultural place with many origins, and also people have a choice.
Oh and also Christianity is borderline fairy tales.I understand some ideologies as I do with most religions, but what you guys forget is that you are all worshiping the same idol, despite wether you know it or not, accept it or not. Look into actual religious literature, you are all under the same son.
Aside from that your religion shouldn’t qualify you for a Pedi stool, you are no more of a human being than any one else despite religion or ethnicity, and to think I will be judged for not going to church and donating my hard earned cash is a silly ideology. I live by morals, I don’t need a god to be a good person. Christianity like other religions relies upon scaremongering.
I have no problems with any religion, but I’m just speaking my mind.
Ps America is run by christians, look at Afghanistan and Iraq, your religion is a pillage ploy. Your leaders are profiting in big ways, religion is one tentacle that allows these people to control you, too get you to agree with them. Christianity Is a for profit semi cult, just as bad as the Muslims.
So to answer your Buddha question, the buddhas aren’t the ones scapegoating, profiting off atrocity and gaining influence and power
most religions are the same.November 14, 2015 at 5:55 am #87472InkyParticipantHi Glenda,
Well, there is cultural Christianity. And of course corrupt church leaders. The very ones Jesus said to watch out for!!
Then there are the true Christians. Filled with the Spirit. Who feed the hungry. Who heal the sick. They also are led by the Holy Spirit to do what God wants them to do to advance His Kingdom. That may not come from a Bible that day. A need, a want, a person will be placed in their path. Then the Christ in them will take care of that need, want and/or person.
There are holy people of all religions, believe it or not. True saints who follow the Divine. And are filled with Christ Consciousness.
And Buddhism is also a way of thinking. There are several thousand Christian Buddhists! Maybe more.
Blessings,
Inky
November 14, 2015 at 8:37 am #87479AnonymousGuestDear Reader:
I want to point out to anyone who cares that I am not going to speak my mind on this one. I will not respond to “Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!” thing that ended the original post. I have a lot to say, for those who care, I regret to disappoint you for not speaking my mind here. Well, since I am not responding, why am I responding, one may ask. Why am I typing and for crying out loud, why am I going to press Submit? I am pondering this as I type. Well, am I inviting anyone to ask me to speak my mind anyway, maybe I am. Waiting for an invitation. I keep typing… maybe it is time for more coffee.

November 14, 2015 at 8:53 am #87481InkyParticipantHi Anita and All!
It’s hard for me to be totally objective because I am a born-again Christian!
That said, I dislike the term Born Again Christian because of the stigma/implications that can go along with it.
I also dislike when other Christians give Christianity a bad name by: black and white thinking, judging, tossing all other spirituality out the window.
There is a life, a mysticism to Christianity that dies when people try to put it in a box. The Divine cannot be contained in a box! When people crystallize it into a mental construct (“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”) they SERIOUSLY turn other people off!
Anita, I’m not surprised you are atheist (if I’m remembering past posts correctly!). There’s a lot of “I wish they wouldn’t do that” out there! (regarding proselytizing)
How much better would it be if we did good deeds, sang hymns and had joy and love in our hearts. THEN people say (and I’ve seen it!) “I want what he/she has!” and the realization “OH! They are Christians!”

well said Inky. wholeheartedly agree
November 14, 2015 at 12:56 pm #87488GlendaParticipantLord let us pray
help these sinners see their blindness, their ignorance, their total rejection of you. May your glorious light shine upon these poor souls. Ok let’s altogether sing in the name of Jesus, our God and Saviour”
Amazing Grace
How sweet the sound
that saved….
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
praise be Jesus
Lord on high
I once was lost
But now I’m found
Help these poor souls
be found Lord
Be found
Glory be to the Father and to the Sun
and to the Holy Spirt
amen
praise and honour his name
deliver these poor wretches from eternal damnation
amen!November 14, 2015 at 1:49 pm #87489Nina SakuraParticipantAll the best Glenda.
November 14, 2015 at 8:09 pm #87496AnonymousGuestDear Glenda:
In your prayer above you called me the following: SINNER, BLIND, IGNORANT, A POOR SOUL and A POOR WRETCH.
You are not doing your god any favors by calling people names … using his name. It makes him look bad…I don’t think he appreciates that. Better not call people names, Glenda.
Dear Inky:
I didn’t know you are a born again Christian although I knew you read the bible daily. In my search to belong to a group in the past I did google atheists and soon found out that the group has a lot of anger, rage, really for Christians, and that unites the Atheists from what I understand. So, I don’t belong to any group other than Homo sapiens.
You shine so bright in comparison here. Your intelligence is appreciated.

November 14, 2015 at 9:09 pm #87499HealingWordsParticipantI want to point out that the USA was originally religions that belonged to the Native Americans, so if Buddhism shouldn’t leave asian cultures, why does Christianity have the right to be anywhere than the Middle east, where it started?
All religions teach the same values and morals, most religions worship the same God. Similar religions will didvide lines because of simple little unimportant disqgreements.
I do not believe religions are bad, I think people have bad intentions and will use written religious texts to justify hidden desires and intentions. That is when people do terrible things in the name of their religion. That is why Christianity wiped out anyone who did not accept their religion when Europeans colonized the americas, and why some muslims become terrorist.Religion is often shoved down childrens throats at a young age they are not even taught to question what they truely believe. I think people should be more open to what they believe in, learn from other’s beliefs and be respectful that nobody does or has to think the way you do. Maybe Christianity is the truth, maybe buddhism is the truth, maybe Islam is the truth. In my opinion they all hold truth but people take every word so literally! Honestly what ever religion you are apart of, you will use religious text or experiences to try and prove you are right, but guess what! Every religion has their text too so it really doesn’t prove anything.
But thats just my take,
Laure
November 14, 2015 at 9:11 pm #87500AnonymousGuestCorrection: … Glenda does have a point, I hate to say it: the “eternal damnation” is not Glenda’s invention, it is biblical. And it is what Inky and Jack and all Christians believe in, isn’t it?
You are too intelligent to threaten people with it, but you believe I am going to hell for not being a Christian. You just know it is not sensible to blurt it out like Glenda did.
God in the bible, in the old testament at least, was not a very nice person, punishing people with injuries and death and being much more mean than Glenda.
So although without too much intelligence, Glenda is more authentically biblical…

November 14, 2015 at 9:26 pm #87502jockParticipantOT (Old Testament) – not a fan.
I’m not a big fan of literal bible truths either.
eternal damnation-that’s a fear campaign to scare us into believing. Disagree!
fear should never be the main style of teaching. I’d never use that to train a dog for instance.
the incentive to believe that love is possible, that hate just divides us.November 14, 2015 at 9:39 pm #87505AnonymousGuestDear Jack:
When I mentioned you above in my last post I regretted it because we never discussed it and I had no idea if you believed in hell. I know that born again Christians do absolutely believe in it.
So I apologize to you, Jack, for assuming you believe anything when you never stated you did. Will you accept my apology?

stop worryingNovember 15, 2015 at 1:33 am #87513Nina SakuraParticipant@healingwords, thanks for add that point about the colonial factor involved in propagating religion across various parts of the world. This negates the whole Christianity was always there in the USA argument. Whether it should stay is purely subjective but freedom to practice one’s faith without harming others is essential.
Glenda, I think I will elaborate a bit more – All the best to you. Good luck to you on “saving” us all from believing in what we believe, simply because it doesn’t agree with your thinking and scripture. If you believe that the path is indeed based on condemnation of those who wish to peacefully co-exist to appease the higher powers, I have nothing to say except, this world is in much need of more kindness, tolerance and solution-oriented approach, rather than adherence alone.
