I’ve learnt to accept the fact that this place will never be too lively. Would love to see more traffic. Maybe it needs an overhaul to look more attractive.
I expected people to be mostly Buddhists to tell you the truth. It would be nice to share insights from that point of view.
I knew there’s be a variety of opinions/perspectives. That occurs on every forum.
I expected more people from other countries such as mine, Australia.
And I expected more regular male posters.
But overall, I’d say it is not a bad forum, comparatively speaking.

    Dear Jack:

    Surprise (not), it’s me!

As to the site not having as many regular male posters as you’d like, I just posted male-friendly Winston Churchill sayings in JOKES. I may get grief for those (if it gets lively here again)…

As far as it not having enough Buddhism for a Buddhist-suggestive title forum, I am here to the rescue with the two principles of Buddhism as I know it that I believe in: 1) to awaken from inaccurate projections into reality, that is from delusions and distorted views and SEE the bare minimum of reality, of what it is when all inaccuracy is removed. 2) To be present in the moment, paying attention to the five senses, the body, the breathing, the now, aka mindfulness.

As far as expecting more people from Australia- have nothing encouraging in this regard. Never been in Australia although I saw a kangaroo, aka roo in Las Vegas Circus Circus casino.

Oh, to your question: I expected nothing which is one of the two expectation options that have been open to me for five decades:
    1) Expect disaster, rejection, violence, painful death
    2) Expect nothing.

I prefer the second option. But I may be digressing or it may be the spicy dinner I just had.

I expect, common sense, enlightenment and learning about other people’s beliefs. I hope for camaraderie and support in an online community

I’ve been delighted to unexpectedly been helped in my own struggles so I’d hoped for answers but was not ready to be given some.

I’m not convinced yet that this is my final resting place in terms of finding a place that fulfils my needs completely … I do feel irritation at a message when I read too. That’s healthy, gotta have a range of feelings for a while experience but yeah….
