Maybe it’s my ego, but ideally I’d like to walk around with my head completely clear of issues. All my problems solved. All those previous nemeses forgiven or at least forgotten anyway. My future path clear. The riddle of life understood.
What do you think of extroverts who never dwell on things too much? Who just get on with life. Action over words. I’m torn. I think this is the right approach to life in a way but then I am drawn to psychology and religion and reflection. Those extroverts who hate counselling: “not going near a counsellor buddy! they don’t need to know my business. I can sort my own issues out anyway. Don’t think too much! Just move on!”
But I think unfinished business is a high priority. Meditation and therapy help me. I’d like to be able to afford more intensive therapy such as psychoanalysis. yet part of me thinks that is so selfish, so self-absorbed. What about those refugees from war? Have they got time or money to worry about their mental health? Only in rich countries do we seek therapy.

    Dear Jack:

We hear a person saying things like ” I can sort my own issues…” and the person appears confident and having it all together so we go home feeling like *^%$ in comparison, taking another piece of that cake from the frig to feel better while at the same time that person who has it all together is shooting up heroine or snorting cocaine. Do not, Jack, be fooled by appearances. Don’t take what people say on face value. Do not be confused by shine and glitter.

Comparing yourself to the APPEARANCE of others is quite common and personally, in your case, Jack, a inheritance from dear mom, isn’t it?

    No I haven’t Anita
I noticed you said you watched Breaking Bad. That was an interesting study of human nature and its potential for good and evil. interesting that the main character maintained popularity(with viewers) despite becoming a demonic drug dealer.

I enjoyed Breaking Bad very much, have the whole series on CDs, purchased and owned. The transformation of a meek man, a man ruled by fear and repressed anger to an in your face, openly angry, aggressive man is a refreshing and addictive experience, obviously made me want to watch more and more. Reminds me of a comment I wrote you recently somewhere here about the lying on the back, submissive posture- that is how Walter White was and then he turned over and … broke bad. Totally cool.

So his evil was actually his shadow that needed expression. His real confidence coming out. Maybe there is a lesson there for all of us. Don’t be afraid of our apparent darker side coming out. It needs expression and may be our lifesaver……but that doesn’t mean you become a drug dealer… 🙂

POWER for the powerless is intoxicating, and it explains the drive for power … to get up and dust off the submission to others, the fear of what will others think, any and all cowardice…

What would you do differently, Jack, if you were to lose all cowardice for a day? I like this as a topic for a new thread.

I will be back online in 24 hours and may start a thread unless you post it first, I think it is a great idea to read what people would do if they lost all cowardice for a day. And what kind of Unfinished Business will people finish…?

ah but cowardice is sometimes mistaken for caution. Nothing wrong with caution. Being careful. 100% courage is sometimes lacking in wisdom and discretion.
Courage needs to be well-placed or it is wasted. You have 100 soldiers with unbridled courage can be like the lambs before the slaughter. Look at world war 1, when troops had to go over the top, just to get to the next trench. They were just mown down. Wasted courage by idiotic generals/superiors.
Brains and courage. Now there is a force to be reckoned with. You spend a long time preparing a speech, on a topic you really care about and you know it will make you vulnerable (because it is personal)and risk getting you offside with some of the audience. You go ahead and give your speech from the heart anyway. But if you didn’t prepare, it would be wasted courage as you haven’t thought it through.

    Dear Jack:

Well placed courage, brains and courage, a force to be reckoned with. I like it very much. Much in here, wise jack (where is Wise Jack on the list of how many of you are there?

I will think about this tomorrow

Wise Jack is the twin brother of Llama Jack.
Llama jack without humour. Thus you don’t see him very often. Only on special occasions, when other inner selves can stand Wise jack taking himself seriously. he can be kind of boring actually.

    DEAR Llama Jack:

After I turned off the computer last night, I thought: Llama Jack, of course, Llama Jack is wise jack. I wanted to correct myself and turn on the computer but thought of it again. But there is refinement of persons here: Wise Jack then is another person, Llama Jack without the humor. There is a distinction. A twin brother, one more on the list.

I am still thinking about Brain AND courage. I think it will be a topic of a new thread to come…
