Gentlemen,
Thank you both for your comments. I understand that one person’s reality is different from that of another. That each individual is composed of an infinite number of experiences taken in, processed, and internalized to develop a system of beliefs and morals (incredible when you take into account that there are 7 billion people on Earth!) and that no individual will ever be the same.
The point of my post was not to rile up two people of somewhat opposing opinions and viewpoints on life as we know it. I know what it’s like to try and express your inner world to others (not easy), and wanting them to see things the way you see them (which we, as a species, are unable to do at this current juncture). It’s frustrating. But that is no cause to get overly worked up over. Instead of refuting what is said. Try to take it as it is and then offer a different viewpoint in a less abrasive manner. “Ah, I see your viewpoint on the matter is… Have you ever considered …., though? It might not line up with what you’ve experienced, but I believe you might benefit from seeing this angle on the subject!” Remember that words and meanings over the internet can easily be misinterpreted (the reason I deleted my Facebook three months ago), thus a more tactile approach may be necessary.
I appreciate what both of you are saying, though. And (as above), though a few of these suggestions may not line up with what my reality is, I will explore them none the less. Better to be flexible than rigid.
Hope you have a good day, all of you!

Its tough to look beyond societal norms for what we must do with our lives, especially when we feel we are being called to a higher spiritual level than the mass (not that we are any better, but just on a different spiritual journey). We have to constantly think, what will my parents think? Don’t I need to be worrying about retirement? When all we really want is freedom to feel we could just live in Africa helping the poor and not have everyone think we are crazY (FOR EXAMPLE). And why ARE we consumed with what these people will think of us? If we are called to advance our souls in a way most don’t understand, why can’t we muster the courage and strength to lay aside “cultural myths” and be gung-ho for the reality at hand?? This reality being that we will live eternally forever and our souls will never die and this earthly preoccupation with things that don’t matter is sickening!
So, I guess what I water to tell you is not to ignore these feelings you are having because you are truly being Called to do something great. Study on it. Find yourself. Expand yourself. Don’t give in to our culture of “SHOULDS” AND “SHOULD NOTS.”
