January 15, 2018 at 10:59 am #186825ElianaParticipantHi Hana,
Hi..I’m sorry if I misunderstood your first post, yesterday was a rough day for me, just feeling lousy. I’m sorry. I see what you mean now. I do have an appointment with a dietician..is this may be what you mean? I have cancelled twice, because I’m always afaid of hearing the same unhelpful words “eat more fiber, exercise, drink 8 glasses of water, take fiber supplements”. However, when someone is severely constipated, no amount of fiber or water is going to help. The fiber just bills up..then just sits there..Then like a train, more fiber comes, sits on top of the fiber already in there, and so it goes. They don’t recommend fiber for severe cases of constipation because of possible impaction. I do drink alot of water, take probiotics, exercise 5 days a week, since I don’t own a car and live downtown, but all the vegetables, greens, fruits, flaxseeds, kefir, probiotic yogurt, salads, brocolli, Vitamin D (which I take, and vitamin C) and prune juice. Does not help. No one knows what to do with me. There is some serious medical issue going on inside of me going on, that Doctor’s are too busy to try to figure out. They only get 15 minutes with you and you are dismissed, even dieticians who only push fiber. Gastroenterologist are useless. Just pill pushers. I have given up. Thank you for all your kind advice and suggestions. I wish I knew the answers. Our healthcare system here is seiously flawed. Doctors, holistic etc..just don’t have time anymore.

January 15, 2018 at 11:48 am #186845CarpeDiemParticipantDear Eliana,
Have you tried Ayuerveda yet? I know you have money issues but maybe some natural treatments might help you. I am not at all expert on this field but I really want you to recover from it. It must be really tough to live in health condition like this.
January 15, 2018 at 1:20 pm #186859HelenParticipantOh my word Eliana, you are the advice provider. I kind of feel petty for my own issues that you actually helped me with. You are such an amazing human being. Happy belated if it means anything. I know how difficult it must be to be on uneasy medications. When it comes to physical health i am more of a natural remedy type of being. Frozen lemons. Its worth a try. Freeze a lemon and greet it with the peel and sprinkle a little bit of it on every meal. It wont take away the issues but i guarantee you it will help a lot, sprinkle it on as much meals as you can. Also have a glass or 2 of warmish water every morning for the next 2 weeks and watch nature do its thing.
You are a beautiful spirit and God what he does, he removes those around you that do not deserve you. You’re an angel Eliana, you are a child of God and he favours you. Be a positive human being, beat the odds. Surround yourself with things that put a smile on your face, I usually gather things that make me laugh like books and funny movies. Keep dreaming and push yourself towards those dreams. Inspire yourself the way you inspire us.

January 15, 2018 at 3:25 pm #186897ElianaParticipantHi CarpeDiem,
I hope you are having a nice day today. It is snowing here. It is beautiful watching it come down. It’s going to get to 15 below tomorrow, and I have to walk to pharmacy and pick up my meds. I really miss not having a car. I may wait till Wednesday. Going to be a balmy 25 degree that day (I live in Ohio).
Thank you for letting me know about Ayaeureda. I hope I spelled it right. Do you know where I can get more information about it? Is there a book or website I could go to? I hope Medicare will pay, since I am on SSDI, that is the only insurance I have, and it doesn’t pay for much. I only make just over $1,000 a month. And a small amount of food stamps. I am desperate to try anything.
Hi Helen, your post moved me very much. Thank you for taking the time to write me, for your beautiful words, and compassion. So many people dismiss me. I don’t have anyone to talk to. I feel very alone in all this. I’m a strong person, but going through this since April is beginning to take a toll. I am feeling like a burden to everyone. I think I can hear groans when I go to the ER yet again. I wish they would admit me. They see my rapid weight loss, that I am suffering. Always impacted (sorry for tmi) why can’t they admit me. My gastroenterologist does not care, not do other doctors. They just smirk. It’s sad really. I hope one day, they too, will have this oroblem, and karma will come and they will be dismissed and treated rudely..like I have been.
I am going to take your advice and watch “Weekend at Bernie’s” tonight or tomorrow. It’s too cold to get out. It’s an old movie, came out in the 80’s but it is hilarious. I laugh so hard no matter how many times I have seen it. Thanks again for all your kind words. It meant alot to me. God bless you. x

January 15, 2018 at 3:32 pm #186901ElianaParticipantHi Helen,
I forgot to mention, I do try to put microwave some water, make it hot and squeeze lemon in It. I drink two large glasses every morning. It was helping. I also sprinkle lemon/pepper seasoning on all my food. My case manager only takes me to store once a month, and we don’t have freezers in our rooms, just in 3rd floor kitchen, so things can get bad pretty quickly when kept in fridge. I will have to buy a grater. That’s excellent advice about using the lemon peel as well. I will try it. Thank you so much. x
January 15, 2018 at 7:08 pm #186913BrandyParticipantYou are very welcome, Eliana.
Have you gathered online information from credible institutions (maybe the Mayo Clinic?) about opioid-induced constipation (OIC)? You are right, it seems OIC is very common, but it may take seeing a gastroenterologist who is an OIC expert to effectively treat it. Based on the little I’ve read about this, it’s very possible that the ER doctors you are dealing with don’t know how to reverse OIC, but that specialists do. The ER doctors you’ve seen should have referred you to a specialist.
January 16, 2018 at 2:17 am #186957CarpeDiemParticipantDear Eliana,
Unfortunately I wouldn’t know where you can find Ayurveda’s store in Ohio. I live in Europe currently. I don’t remember if you wrote before, but have you tried Yoga before? It helped me a lot before. Sometimes when we are stressed too much, our body doesn’t function well. Give it a try, you can do it also at home by watching some videos on youtube
January 16, 2018 at 6:38 am #186991ElianaParticipantHi Brandy,
Not much they can do for me. The ER just focuses on getting you in and out of there. They hate it when people come in impacted with severe constipation issues. They know I don’t take opiods anymore. No specialists, because I’m no longer on them. Even if you are on them, they treat you like you are a drug addict when I was taking the lowest dose just trying to get out of pain. There are no caring Doctor’s out there anymore, sadly. Thank you for writing back. It means alot to me. x
January 16, 2018 at 6:40 am #186993ElianaParticipantHi CarpeDiem,
Thanks for the excellent suggestion..yoga makes my severe back pain worse I’m afraid. Thank you, I appreciate your excellent suggestions. God bless you.
January 16, 2018 at 9:59 am #187043BrandyParticipantHi Eliana,
Ok, I understand. Keep up on the advances being made in this area, though. I found recent research studies done on OIC, and there are several treatments listed. It seems, from the little I’ve read, that the biggest obstacle in treating it is using meds that don’t interfere with the pain-killing effects of the opioids, but you aren’t on opioids anymore so that wouldn’t be an issue for you, I would guess. So, who knows, I wonder if you may actually be an easier patient to treat for this problem? Just guessing, of course. I know you wrote that OIC specialists only see patients who are currently on opioids. All it takes is one caring doctor to agree to see you, so keep trying. Be persistent. Don’t give up. And who cares if they treat you like a drug addict? You know you are not a drug addict; that’s all that matters. (I know it’s hard to be treated that way, but you’re strong, and dealing with them would be temporary.) Hang in there, Eliana. I hope you feel better soon.

January 16, 2018 at 10:07 am #187045HanaParticipantHello again Eliana,
I totally agree with doctors not spending enough time with patients. That is kind of what I meant in that I found an integrated health provider that is a Nurse Practitioner rather than an MD because they can still do many of the same things as an MD but I find that nurses or those who were nurses tend to have better people skills. She usually spends 30-45 minutes with me so far.
I hope that maybe some of the others’ suggestions here might bring you some healing.
Just know that you are not alone in your frustration with the medical field.
January 16, 2018 at 10:18 pm #187123VJParticipantHello Eliana,
Thanks for the blessings!
I just wanted to know if you have been able to make advances towards the betterment of your situation.
Or is it just the day/event in the title of the posts that have changed but the original situation still remains the same?
(Used only for reference)
Alone, in bad health, and depressed on Christmas eve
Sad, rejected and lonely on my birthday
The positive action that I am referring to is not about “Be positive, everything will be ok”. It is very difficult to think positively in difficult times. It is about taking some kind of positive action. Is there any positive action that you have taken between all the time from the end of first post and at the start of the second post? For example, in your very first post it mentions as “I just want to go to hospice”. So is there something that you can act upon it? Can you make a call to them and inquire? Or do you need me to look that up around your area? Or do you just need a push of motivation to get up and doing what is required? Instead of non-action due to ill-health make your health condition itself as a source for that push….for that action. This is just an example. You may be knowing what is the next positive action that you can take. No amount of any conversations on this site is going to help permanently (although momentarily) without taking the required surrendered action. Moments are passing and days are passing and you do not want to be in the same situation on the next festival or event of the year. I hope you are getting the point. Don’t stay “stuck” in the mud for too long.
Also, did you get a chance to go through the write-up on Acceptance & Surrender. If not I have re-posted it here as No. 1.
Use it to sail through your situation, while taking some kind of surrendered action.
I do remember that you were not able to open at the yoga/pranayama links, but I did not resend them as you mentioned you have back problems.
How about something that the Divine has built in within us? There are points in our body that corresponds to every organ of the body and stimulating those points (by pressing with the finger(s)) will activate those organs. These are Acupressure Points. You simply need to press those points to activate your digestive organs. You may have already heard about it but never got a chance to look into it. Please take a look at No. 3.
The below 3 points are intentionally in sequence so go through them in that sequence.
