    Dear Brook:

I can’t answer “how far can a visa officer go, in terms of a career path?” Perhaps you can research that.

When will you know if there is a job available to you at the local advertising company is a valid question, as well as what are your chances to receive that job. And… since you asked regarding the other job, how far can you go with this job, in terms of a career path?

Pay and benefits is another consideration.

If you have the first job available for you to take and no other job, then I would take it, if I was you. It reads interesting to me, so I would be motivated.

There are such jobs heavily regulated by workers unions where you are secure, it seems, from the moment you accept the job for the coming decades until retired, with salary regularly increasing with time, according to a set salary table, regular raises, and such. Outside such jobs, it is hard to predict what will benefit you as the job market changes a lot.

Hey Anita thank you for resposding to my post!

That was actually one of the questions I wanted to ask at the end of the interview but I was too nervous my mind went blank. Wish I could’ve done better.

I’d probably get an answer by the end of this week, which is great, as I believe I’ll have to make a decision by then. And hopefully I’d be able to start working next week.

I was previously in the similar industry (brand activation), and I think for events / marketing, there’s a plenty of growth, particularly digital marketing, something I’ve been investing a lot of time in.

And both jobs pay well. And yes you’re right, I think if I don’t hear from the advertising company by this week, I’ll go on with the other.

At least I’ll have one year to figure out my next move. Right now my top priority is to pull myself out of this shitty unemployment rut.

    Dear Brook:

Maybe you can contact the people at the advertising company and tell them that you are considering another job in a few days, needing to be employed soon, but that you prefer the job at the ad company, then ask if they can look at you as a candidate for the job sooner than later?
