    Dear Meander:

    Congratulations for saying no to an authority figure, excellent choice, excellent practice. Keep at it.

    The losses you listed are indications that we can’t protect ourselves from losing, losing other people, the animals in our lives, and eventually, losing our own lives. Most of our fear is useless as it hinders us and doesn’t help us. You overcame enough fear to be able to say No to your boss, and it feels good, doesn’t it.
