VargenParticipantHi, I stumbled across Tiny Buddha when searching for material about love, life’s purpose, etc. Some months ago I ended a relationship that literally took me from one side of the world to the other. I’m starting my life anew in my home country, and am thinking a lot about the future, finding new love, etc. I am an Atheist, but one thing I noticed is that meditative/spiritual music (the kind involving mantras) help me sooth my mind and relax when I’m over-thinking things. Ironically, I got introduced to this kind of music by my ex some years ago, haven’t listened much to it since, but now refound it and notice it still helps me to take my mind off things.
My question is: Do any of you have tips to share concerning artists in this genre? I really enjoy the styles of Namasté, Deva Premal, Maneesh de Moor and Sina Vodjani (amongst others) as all of them create a soothing atmosphere. I don’t really enjoy the more harsh spoken mantras, that’s why I find it difficult to find more artists like the ones I mentioned.
Hope someone can chime in and help me discover something new!
Take care, Vargen

MikeParticipantI don’t know any, but when I am looking for music from similar artists I make a station on pandora, spotify, or anyother online music station and i can listen to it all. Or youtube also works.

VargenParticipantThanks Mike, I use Last FM, and I totally forgot about checking the “similar artist” feature there. 🙂
In the meantime, if anyone has any special recommendations; I’m all ears. 🙂

Sarah JaneParticipantHi Vargen,
there is a really lovely CD by Bliss, I think it is called ‘A hundred thousand angels’, although not a hundred per cent sure. The music is very calming, and for anyone who has any kind of spiritual belief it is really uplifting too! I think it is based on Hindu beliefs, but the way it is worded could be spiritual for anyone, or non spiritual, as it really is what you believe. Another one that is very relaxing is Pachabel, it does not have any lyrics but is great.Enjoy

AshleyParticipantnature sounds is a great website that’s about mixing unique nature sounds including car purrs to thunder, sheep, and campfires. It’s a relaxing way to listen to nature itself when mediating or whatever you are doing. I hope you check it out because it’s enjoyable 🙂
