Hello I recently joined this blog and I just wanted to talk to someone…anyone..the people I live with wouldn’t understand and most of them day that I over think everything..but here is the problem…today I read a man who was executed in Pakistan.this man was given capital sentence at the age of 15 and apparently hr had been forced to confess…he was a Christian and before dying he wrote about how he’s faith in God was still intact and just reading what he wrote amazed me…his story touched me deeply..like how is it that so many bad things keep happening and God isn’t doing anything?..maybe he was innocent and maybe he wasn’t but so many innocent people are dying every single day.it seems like some people’s fate are better than for others..is it right to say that God loves some people more than others??..what about innocent children that are raped at an early age and end up being infected with diseases??.am so confused,….my father said the problem with me is that I am too smart and I constantly want to question things..this happens all the time..i am 18 by the way…and lately things just don’t make sense..sometimes I wonder if its even worth it to be alive…i will appreciate some advice from older people who have had way more experience in life…thank you

I don’t know how I can help you when I’m stuck in same problem. I don’t know what’s happening in this world. Innocent people and kids are dying. Its hard for me to believe that God exist and if he does exist why he’s not doing anything about it. World is filled with racism, poverty and war. Isis are beheading people cause we are not like them, people are dying cause of poverty while rich people spend millions on things they don’t actually need. It truly doesn’t make sense. We cant do anything. We can only try to help. World needs to wake and see how far this has gone. It all depends on our fate and Gods hands. We are just puppets we can only see what’s been happening we are helpless

I don’t believe in God. From my perspective, the reason that God isn’t doing anything because there is no god. Now I used to be a Christian too and it was a slow transformation away from Christianity, but it has been worth it as my life is just as fulfilling, if not much more so, and my psychological clarity has increased. The contradictions etc that I was holding in my head have yielded and made way for a simpler experience of life.

If you want to do some deep, heavy reading, try “What are you without God?” by Christopher Krzeminski. It’s a great book which not only debunks religious thought but goes on to deal with the emotional aspects of deconversion. However, it is long, quite heavy read so it’s not for everyone. Otherwise, just so you know, if you do lose your belief in God you may well find that you feel a bit empty at first as you have lost something that you thought to be real; you will find your own way to deal with this but it is common. I experienced it on some level too. The good news is, it’s a temporary phenomenon.

All best – have great lives you two no matter what happens.

    Dear Glet:
You wrote: “my father said the problem with me is that I am too smart and I constantly want to question things.”

I don’t think the problem is with you for being “too smart”- you have a brain, hence you ask questions.

I too believe there is no god, at least not the biblical god, not the traditional biblical god, the one made in the image of man- so the bible, for me has nice parts to it, but it does not at all expresses what there really is out there, beyond what we can see/hear, etc. There is nobody out there knowing my every thought, feeling, watching my every move, taking notes. Nobody out there hearing me when I cry for help (I did, for years, as a child- no reply). I am getting comfortable wtih my understanding that … my understading is limited and there are many things I will not be able to know for the rest of my life.

I don’t engage in fantasy just so to “know” what i cannot know.

There are plenty of things that I can know though, so I don’t focus on what i can never know.

As someone who is older and had struggled with these questions, let me say this:

There IS a higher power !

How it works exactly is beyond human understanding !!

Glet, the answer to your question is ‘Karma’. That is why bad things happen and ‘God’ seemingly does not stop them !!!

Karma does not fit in with Christianity, Islam or Judaism but it is the central tenet of Hinduism and Buddhism. In fact, just like you, Lord ‘Buddha’ (who used to be a Prince) got confused by bad things happening to people – read his story.

You need to be a good person and do good deeds – that is all you can do.

Please don’t overthink this – over centuries, many intelligent people have gone insane looking for an answer.

    GOD Bless !

I laughed while reading this. Religion is something people invented because they can’t handle the mortality of people; by religion, we make ourselves immortal. To believe in God and not ever doubt it, indicates a lack of education or a lack of brain. Your dad is right: you are too smart, too smart to believe in God. Be open minded but not so much that your brain falls out.
My first advice for you is to get in touch with other ideas, try to watch these videos:

My second advice: don’t believe anyone but yourself, so don’t even listen to me if you don’t want to. Believe what you want to believe, or just believe nothing. I’m not an atheïst, because I can’t prove that God doesn’t exist. I’m neither a buddhist or a christian or whatever. I am a person, just like you, and I don’t like to be put into a box. I believe in this life, and that we can make the most of it.
I’m really sorry if I offended anyone with this post, I really respect whatever religion people have.

We all want to believe in a benevolent power that will save all from harm.
In truth, according to what I have been told, we are on earth to experience free will. In the bible, it also says that Satan and all his fallen angels were thrown upon the earth and are wreaking havoc upon this plane causing many of the things that are happening.
What if ‘Satan’ could be described as selfishness? Ultimate “its all about me and I don’t care about anyone else?”
What if upbringing had a factor in this, influence by friends or disconnect because a loving and guiding family is not in the life?
Power/money/status is a factor too, thinking that this is what will bring happiness and satisfaction.
Within each of us, we all have the basic ability to feed ourselves what will make us feel good. For some, it is taking great advantage of others. For others, it is serving others.
