I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years, and from the beginning it has been long distance. We live over 5,000 miles away from each other and although we’re so far apart and meetings are annual..I haven’t felt the sadness and difficulty I’m feeling now. We spent an amazing two weeks together- he left just last week and I’m finding it really difficult to be away from him. Of course, we video call and message each other every day but I feel so down not being with him and I can’t focus on much else. What makes it worse is that I don’t know if I’ll be able to see him in early 2018 because of his work schedule, so December 2018 is probable to be the next time we see each other. I honestly can’t comprehend this. I need a way to distract or comfort myself but I can’t find any positivity out of this situation.

    Dear Maria:

You wrote above that you have been in a long distance relationship for three years so far, and that “from the beginning it has been long distance”. But in March of this year you wrote: “I’ve been in a relationship with a guy for 2 years now…  spending time with him… meeting him almost every day since 2015”-

Is it the same guy? If so, how is it that you met him almost every day from 2015 to March 2017, and yet, you refer to it as a long distance relationship “from the beginning”?
