sajalParticipantI am alone. It’s really hard to accept in urban city. I figure out myself as a saint but it is really necessary to cut-off this world, to find enlightenment of soul. I believe in Maya and karma both. Truly i say, i am pretty much attracted on Maya. How can i manage all this things? When i believe there is one way to get Moksha, go spiritual. Hard to find who i m?

Buddhist WifeParticipantHello Sajal,
I’m sorry to hear that you are troubled.
Life in the city can be very hard. Things move so fast and it can feel very impersonal.
Do you have a spiritual adviser? Someone you can talk to in person about this issue?
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the term Maya or Moksha so I don’t understand what you are saying there.
I wish I could help you more.
I wish you peace.

sajalParticipantThanks for replying,
My spiritual adviser is my God which is always with me. I am not talk about this matter to anyone. I will define the term which i used. According to Hindu methodology, Moksha is liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Maya is the illusion or appearance of the phenomenal world.
Karma is the effects of a person’s actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation.September 17, 2013 at 7:31 am #42348
Buddhist WifeParticipantHello Sajal,
Thank you for replying.
I can only speak about what I have learned from my own tradition, which is Tibetan Buddhism. I was taught that it is possible to achieve liberation even in the life of a householder. So I don’t think that a person has to let go of the things of this world in order to achieve liberation.
However everyone’s path is different.
I feel under-qualified to give you any advice in this area. What you are seeking is pretty much the essence of spirituality, and I am no guru!
Do you meditate?

MattParticipantSajal,
Sometimes our faith can make us blind. For instance, have spent the time and effort it takes to properly discern Moshka from Maya? Do you assume you know the difference? It seems that if you were in alignment, the sense of isolating solitude would be absent. Said differently, perhaps the illusion of Maya arises in your mind and prevents you from connecting to the divinity all around you.
Choyagm Trungpa has a great book called “Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism” which can help erode the quality of superiority and distance you feel for others. Its from a different tradition than your own, but it may be a great help within your own. After all, you’re unintentionally judging aspects of Moshka, which is like pushing all of the food you’re being offered by the divine and then complaining you’re hungry. Namaste.
With warmth,
