I’m kind of talking to myself here but anyone that wants to join in to encourage, motivate or get ideas is more than welcome. I lost about 60 pounds 2.5 years ago. I gained 20-30 back over the last 1.5 year as I moved and started and changed a new job. I got back in my low carb groove around Christmas and have already lost 13 of that. Now I need to figure out a way to get working out into my daily routine. I’ve always wanted to learn yoga but I just do not have the disposable income to join a gym or take official yoga classes. I’m also very busy…up at 6am, work till 6pm then have normal cooking, cleaning, family stuff. I’d also like to tone and shape my muscles.
So, any advice, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Youre an inspiration! 60 pounds in 2.5 years is an accomplishment! You should be so proud of yourself. Thats huge.
Also, stop being so hard on yourself. It is completely natural for people to lose their routine after big changes in life, ie: the new move and job. Give yourself some time 🙂
As for yoga, I’d suggest checking out some free classes on youtube. I hear theyre helpful (and free!). This is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7AYKMP6rOE
you can always do this before bed which could be a great way to wear you out for sleep 🙂

I was at a very unhappy place in my life and finally had the courage to make many chabges that lead me to where i am today! I just used to be very active as I had horses and needed to be outdoors doing “things” like hauling hay or fixing fences alot of the time. Now I don’t spend nearly as much time in forced activity so I tend to feel “lazy”.
I did a little looking on YouTube and I’m thinking that might be the way to go. Hopefully I can, soon, take a few classes at a local yoga studio. 😊

I have an exercise routine that I do when I choose to do those. I do not attend classes or do those in groups but individually: aerobic exercise is brisk walking, a good 30 minutes of brisk walking per day will do wonders, maybe at the end of your day before taking a shower… Then I do core work every day, 50 crunches in two different ways (working the side muscles as well) … you can google Core Work. And then some weight lifting with 5 kg weights. So I get the aerobic, the core and arms/back, shoulders with the weights. In addition to that i do yoga stretches, and some endurance poses (Warrior 1, 2).
Most helpful to weight loss and keeping it off long term, i find, is mental health, calm, peace of mind.

Wow, a 60 pound weight loss, that is amazing!
I was just about to tell you about yoga with Adriene, but Dina beat me to it. She has great videos for beginners, weight loss, couch potatoes, etc. So more than likely you’ll find a video that suits you.
From the app store you can purchase and app called Yoga Studio. It’s about $3 I believe and it has many positive reviews. I really like it. I don’t know if they have it for android though. The big perk to this one is that they have all different sorts of routines such as ones that work on balance, relaxation, and flexibility, or a combination of all those things. They even have a few routines for runners or back pain. Another good thing about this app is that they have short routines ranging from 10 minutes, to longer routines that last up to an hour. You could also customize your own routine with whatever poses you like. However, I’d say that the biggest perk about this app, that I enjoy and that others seem to really like is that you can download the routines so you can do yoga even when there is no internet connection. That is the main reason I bought it. I’m still a beginner when it comes to yoga and I downloaded all 10 of their sessions and now I can do yoga wherever I want without having to worry if there is wifi or not.
It’s been a while since I’ve done any yoga, and I was hoping to get back into it but kept putting it off. You have inspired me to take it back up, I’ll definitely start tomorrow. I’m so excited!
