    Dear patelh:

My suggestion to you previously, to “just say hello, with a social kind of smile, and walk away” was not a good suggestion because I didn’t take into consideration the cultural accepted and expected greeting, and  so, when you “said ‘hi’ politely and  the  response was: ‘what hi’ you have to greet like this blah blah with an Indian greeting”.

A good suggestion on my part would have been to do that “blah blah” Indian greeting, not the Hi, or Hello.

On another post yesterday you wrote. “I just don’t  go to events anymore, I refuse  and avoid. I let my husband go alone or we both don’t go unless  its  mandatory”- this is one solution to the problem.

Does your husband support you at this time, what is  his input on the  matter, currently?

He does not care if i go or not. He also does not like going either. To the people who have disrespected me and my family – going where they are or to their house is now over as they have hurt too much so the solution is there. I just stupidly went to a gathering knowing they were there and took the risk, only to feel hurt again. Any cultural greeting is not mandatory and is not asked for from others in my position within the family, i just got picked on to speak like that which was unfair and uncalled for.

    Dear patelh:

I suppose you found the solution then. It never feels good to be disliked and  I am sure you would have liked it if his family liked and respected you. I wish everyone liked me! But this is not the case. No  one is liked by everyone.

So you stay away from the  people who dislike and disrespect you. What else makes sense, I  ask and come  up with no answer other than stay away.
