Figured I would try this place out again with a new thread. 2021 was a bad year for me. In the summer time my house got broken into, a few months later another guy tried to break in and had to scare him off and back in November I got smoked by a big truck on my ebike I bought back in July (my first one). Not a big rig truck, but one of those heavy duty ford 350 types. I was in the bike lane and he never looked when he turned and I was launched about 30 feet or so with blood on my head/arm and road rash because helmet was not strapped in so my head smashed into the pavement, messed up my spine and my neck bones are touching causing pain throughout my entire right arm. I been going to physio and doing neck compressions and work on my spine (I can still walk fine) 2 days a week while I have ICBC coverage. Pain vanishes for a day or 2 after I get work done to my neck/spine but today it’s at like a 10 like before I started physio.
Oh also I injured my knee learning to run in the summer getting trained by someone and also almost had a heart attack/stroke in 2021 too. A pretty crappy year. 2022 i’ve had to call a plummer already, just waiting for 2022 to fall apart as well.

I am so sorry to read the bad news, the worst being that you were hit by a truck and as a result, you suffer from neck and spinal cord compression that cause you pain throughout your entire right arm. You are receiving spinal decompression therapy which relieved the pain for a day or two, but then it returns, and yesterday the pain was as great as it was before you started physiotherapy (aka physical therapy). I am sorry, pete! How is the pain today and when’s your next PT appointment?

February 6, 2022 at 8:02 pm #392453AnonymousInactiveHey anita long time no talk. Made a new thread like you asked (not talked to that girl since I left that thread, done with her).
Next appointment is every Tues/Wed. Pain is not that bad today compared to yesterday. I like days I go because the pain goes away for a short while. I figure another few months and I am finished with this hopefully.

I am glad you started a new thread. May 11 last year was last we talked. Eight months and 3 weeks later, you started this thread. When you say, “another few months and I am finishing with this hopefully“, do you mean that you expect no more pain in a few months, as in full recovery?

February 7, 2022 at 12:11 pm #392479AnonymousInactiveYes a full recovery. The pain wont be gone for good, I am sure I will still have it throughout my life in some form but I can resume normal duties by then. I am going to be there until at least June.

A full recovery is a good prognosis. I wish the pain will be gone too. By resuming normal duties, I assume you mean at work. Did your father take care of you, is he treating you any better than he did before?

February 7, 2022 at 2:27 pm #392484AnonymousInactiveNaw just normal everyday stuff again. I found something I really wanna do when I recover (High Intensity Training). As for work…I went to work the next day after the accident doing light duties for a few weeks. My dad has been fine through this, drives me to work.

You were back to work the next day, my goodness, you are amazing! You say that you want to do High Intensity Training (HIT) when you recover. Online, I read that the fundamental principle of HIT is that exercise must be very intense, let’s say 20 seconds of running in place followed by 10 seconds of rest, no equipment is required. Is that it?

February 7, 2022 at 8:41 pm #392489AnonymousInactiveYou’re probably thinking of HIIT, which is different from HIT. HIT is more really slow movements which should ideally be 1 maybe 2 times a week at the gym or home for roughly 30 minutes. So 1 hour a week if I did 2 days a week or 30 minutes if I did 1 day a week full body. Look up Jay Vincent, that’s who I follow. The excercise should be intense, unlike you see at the gym where people are throwing the weights around and going super fast.
Yeah was at work the next day, they could not believe I came but I still have 1 arm I was able to use, plus I used my head a little and had to be a little creative. Sometimes I think what if a car was coming in the other lane? would have gone head first into the grill and have had a deformed face. I didn’t go right away to physio, but before I did I became SUPER DEPRESSED like everyday dealing with the intense pain everyday, started eating like crap. I never cried, I just felt in pain and worthless and ANGRY like I was never going to be without this extreme pain for good. But now I know this wont be forever, the pain subsides when I go on the machine for a few days before returning slowly but not even close to as painful.
I go tomorrow, I can’t wait because I was moving a box at home and now my wrist feels really strained.
February 8, 2022 at 10:23 am #392503AnonymousGuestDear pete:
I looked up the name and read somewhere that you can achieve this man’s perfect, muscular body “with less than 40 minutes TOTAL training time per week. That’s right, not 40 minutes per workout, but less than 40 minutes in an ENTIRE week”. Well, I understand your attraction to this promise!
“Yeah, was at work the next day, they could not believe I came but I still have 1 arm I was able to use, plus I used my head a little and had to be a little creative” – like I said, you are amazing!
“Sometimes I think what if a car was coming in the other lane? would have gone headfirst into the grill and have had a deformed face” -it is scary to think how randomly and unexpectedly our lives can drastically change to the worse or end all together. Best we can do is to be mindful, that is, pay attention and make thoughtful, practical choices every day so to prevent harm and promote safety. For example, learn from the moving the box experience and don’t do it again.
“I became SUPER DEPRESSED like every day dealing with the intense pain… started eating like crap. I never cried, I just felt in pain and worthless and ANGRY like I was never going to be without this extreme pain for good. But now I know this won’t be forever, the pain subsides” – when we perceive pain-forever we get depressed. Anything forever feels bad, I imagine, even good things. What do you think?
