I want you to start writing a novel. The novel is your life and you are the hero/heroine. You may be quarter way through, half-way through or even more.
What has happened so far? What is going to happen in the next chapter? Have you mapped an outline for the rest of the book?
Try to make it an interesting read. Assume it will be a happy ending after you have risen to the challenges that life has thrown at you.
Surprise the reader. The first half of the book may indicate a certain pattern of failure and weakness. The reader starts to think “oh god, this guy/gal is doomed to fail.” but you have some interesting material in store for the later chapters. The reader will go away thinking “wow, I never thought that could possibly happen! What a story! Inspirational!”

    Dear Jack:

A novel. first part, before the awakening, second: the awakening.

First part: living in the past and future, ruminating over the past, worrying about the future. Second part: living in the present.

First part: Jack living in Australia. Second Part: Jack kidnapped and dropped into a war zone third world country, there he discovers his powers of guru-ing the locals.

    More later:

Now I really feel the butt of your humour, Anita. So my story is one of those classic comedies, like watching Bob Hope trying to deal with ISIS terrorists!
At least I can join with you in laughing at myself.

    re awakening
Not sure. I might be still asleep right now. ISIS or Taliban will certainly wake me up though. 🙂
