Hey folks! Just out of curiosity – is there anyone here who enjoys drawing, painting, sculpture, you name it? What is the most fun thing you have ever created? What mediums do you prefer – pencil, markers, watercolour, gouache, acrylic…? What subject matter do you love to depict?

I would love to see peoples work…I like having artist friends 😀

    Dear Joe:

Good to see you here again. I painted with acrylics a long time ago. My most esteemed.. work of art that I did was a painting of a head and a hand reaching out for help, out of the head upward. Is this posted under the FUN category? Not a fun painting that I am describing…

    Hi Joe,
I personally loved painting on tile and glass. I guess I had also used M seal to create designs on the tile. Once the m seal dried , I would on it. I am not great at painting but tile and glass painting was interesting and relatively simpler. Also, I ve tried painting simple floral designs on table cloths. I was good painting within boundaries never good with free style. My anxiety regarding painting finally reduced when I started learning wet on wet painting and now I like to paint:) have fun! 🙂

Hello! I am a oil painter, I love using oil paints, they are my favorite medium. I majored in Drawing and Painting in college and I hope to be featured in art galleries. But for the most part I am currently building up my portfolio.

I love to paint, landscapes, portraits, self-portraits, shoes..I tend to focus on subject of the self, what lies inside.
I have pictures if anyone wants to see.

Well replying to Anita on the subject of painting, I paint a lot of self-portraits and landscapes and when I do, they are usually a reflection of myself. Feelings I have on the inside, stuff I cannot readily talk about, stuff that aren’t easily defined, the stuff that bugs you, annoy you that goes around in your head but don’t always tell people because they would think you are odd. To try to portray that on a painting is a complex issue because our insides are complex. : )

    Dear Roxanna:

I appreciate you replying to me. The reason I copied what wrote on this thread (topic: ART) and pasted it on the other thread (topic: relationship) is because the two topics are not separate.

Here you wrote in the latest post that you have feelings on the inside, stuff you cannot readily talk about, things that are not easily defined; things you wouldn’t tell others because they would think you are odd, complex issues…

These very issues, these very things that you express in your art, play a very meaningful part in your relationship on the other thread. The relationship… do you not wish it was like your art: you paint it, as undefined and complex as it is, and leave it at that. Instead, in the relationship, he won’t leave it at that, complex and undefined. He needs clarity, simplification. Different rules to a relationship, different kind of communication… a different medium.

I believe if you integrate the two, if you express those complex issues to your husband, communicate back and forth about those… that will be a great help to you as an individual AND to the relationship of the two of you.

Any of this …means something to you…?

Hello Anita, I decided to just continue this topic on the previous relationship topic since this fits better there.

    Dear Roxanna:

I would like some day to see your work, I suppose you can attach a link… but before I do, i would like to talk about feelings with you, communication of feeling outside art. Hence, the other thread. I hope it works.

Joe, hello… I am a graphic artist and have done just about everything. I paint, do pastels, linocuts, watercolors, charcoal, you name it… I prob do only one painting a year 🙁 right now I am making leather cuff bracelets. https://trishaidoni.carbonmade.com

I think right now my painting has declined because of time available, that I am actually under a bit of stress raising a teenager and just don’t know what to paint… I love drawing animals, landscapes, people, etc… just waiting to be inspired.

    hello Joe,

Bit different from the crowd…. but still an artist 🙂 I am 3D designer, passionate especially about 3D illustration. Still trying to ‘break in’ the professional waters full time, though 🙂 Made a life mission of it, when I think (Guided by the concept- choose a job you love, and you don’t have to work a day in your life) 🙂 Most fun thing I did, illustration a sci-fi novel of a friend, not published yet. But sometimes I like to go back to reality, and also do products/ interior/ exterior visualizations… I love every second I have spend in this field, and always try to learn something new (I also have to, cause I don’t have official ‘artistic’ schooling).

Sometimes it’s difficult to handle clients to be honest though… It’s common issue among computer artists, especially when they don’t know what they want (and you have to figure out at your own expense), or… when they think they know what’s pretty and you have to put your name behind a ‘shameful’ concept 🙂 But maybe that should be another topic, ‘what should you expect when your hobby becomes a full time job’ 🙂

Greetings to all the fellow artists, I also used to paint till I was 18 and the computer totally took over 🙂 I miss that, now when I remember it.. 🙂

    @Trisha
I love your linocuts! This is something I would love to try out some time.

I love leather cuff bracelets – I ended up cutting up an old studded belt I found in the charity shop, punching some holes in and putting brass fasteners into it to make a cuff. Where do you buy the material to make your cuffs? I want to make a longer one – I bought this long one – about 5 inches or so but it mysteriously vanished – I’ve been trying to look online to replace it but I just can’t find the right one anywhere so I am dead set on making my own!

    @Maria

Sounds interesting! I used to dabble with 3D programmes – mostly I was interested in making 3D characters to be used as models for computer games or CGI animations – I would have loved to have finished them and find the right filters to have them cel-shaded. I would love to do more 3D at some point but for now I just focus on 2D art.

I buy a lot of my leather from springfield leather and cut it down into strips/cuffs, then dye the cuffs and then either hand punch or add rivets, etc.. I buy the tooling leather. It has taken me about a year to figure it all out, learn the termanology for the products I need, how to use them, etc… long process, but I have loved learning! It is very relaxing and enjoyable.

    Hi Joe! Another artist here!

I work mainly in acrylic and mixed media. I love to create ‘one of a kind’ art, with lots of textures and special effects!

I’m currently learning to emboss thin metal by hand, so that I can incorporate these pieces into my mixed media. I also doodle a lot just lately.

I find art very relaxing and absorbing.  I’m hoping to start up an online shop soon. I do exhibit my work in exhibitions arranged by our local art club, but could really do with selling more of my work to a wider audience.

    Hi Joe,

I am an aspiring digital artist. I use Corel Painter to make digital art involving Chinese characters and abstract patterns. I have dabbled in 3d modelling but it was too time consuming and I found the learning curve a bit steep.

You can check out my work on my blog http://www.camzhu.com. Any feedback appreciated!

    Hopefully we can connect.

    Peace,

    Cam
