anita, i know i haven’t been around lately but how are you? how are things going lately?
a few things that i’d like to talk about are: feelings, intuition (once again) and balance.
do you think that our thoughts can carry us away too far? do you think that our thoughts can actually set us off our tracks? like say i was looking at a worm on a tree, just watching him. me being so worried for him, i’m thinking that maybe he’d fall off somehow and i need to be his protection. but maybe in fact the worm is safe already on his own without my help and close attention. i don’t really know where i’m going with that one, hopefully that’s something you might understand. i think intuition and balance will go into that though.
i also want to let you know that two weeks ago i went back to the kindergarten class and i loved it. i love kids so much. i’m not much worried about my future in the occupation area so much as i was before. only the fear of how tough it is to get a job in general, but as far as having a job in mind and it staying there, that’s good with me.
i feel as though i’m closing off lately and hopefully that’s not the case, but all in all i think i’m just under a lot of stress that’s probably all caused by me myself.
April 24, 2016 at 4:42 pm #102629AnonymousGuestDear Wisdom:
So good to have you post again, and on your main post with so much of our correspondence!
Glad you went back to the kindergarten class and loved it again and that you are quite confident about your future occupational area (kindergarten teacher).
As to how I am doing: this is my 8th day of being sick, not too bad, but not good either, a cold, congestion, chills at times.
As to our thoughts: these are little physical events happening in our brains. Your thought take place in your brain and there only, in between your ears. They have no power. Only your action has power. People think so many thoughts all the time, most not remembered because they are ongoing. If you watch a worm on a tree, you watching the worm will not keep it safe. Thinking has no power to travel outside your brain. No one can read your mind, know what you are thinking unless you say what you are thinking.
If you think: “the worm will fall”- your thought cannot cause the worm to fall. Nothing you think causes anything to happen.
And nobody can send you his thoughts. All those thoughts never leave your head. Only vocalizations, sounds and words spoken leave you and reach someone’s ears. Only your fingers typing, pass on your thought to another.
Did I answer your question, part of it? Please let me know and clarify your question/s. I will try again.

April 24, 2016 at 4:56 pm #102632WisdomParticipanti hope you feel better soon anita! continue to take care of yourself and if you have the energy it’s always good to exercise to help sickness. i know you go walking most of the time so that’s a perfect exercise!
you answered my question, no worries. i think that the balance part though is the only thing left out. which is fine if you don’t actually have an answer, but how do you think we can find balance outside of meditation if you have any idea.
April 24, 2016 at 5:19 pm #102633AnonymousGuestDear Wisdom:
I am glad you think walking is good for my cold. I did walk today and most of the days I’ve been sick, but half as much distance per day.
About balance, I am not clear about what kind of balance you mean. If you mean being calm, outside of meditation, then I would say Mindfulness is Living Meditation, where whatever you do, you focus on what you are doing. If you are washing dishes, you listen to the sounds the dishes make, the water running, you feel the soap on your hands, the feel of the dishes, the warmth of the water on your hands, etc. When you walk, you focus on the feel of your foot on the ground, left, right, the sounds walking make. Ongoing, you pay attention to the sights around you, the look, the sound, the smell, the taste (if you eat/ drink), the feel/ touch.
And then there is calming music and hot baths and …walking, aerobic exercise, yoga stretches !- anything to take down the elevator from your head (thinking, thinking…) to your body (stretches is an excellent way, you feel/ focus on a stretch), and otherwise. Got to get out of the thinking mode- that is for sure.
Did I answer the balance part?

April 24, 2016 at 5:27 pm #102636WisdomParticipantthat’s exactly what i was talking about, that peace of mind. that sounds like it may help and i’ll try it. it’s good that you’re walking anita it’s always good to exercise it’s very beneficial and i’m sure when you feel better that you’ll be walking farther than now.
April 24, 2016 at 5:34 pm #102640AnonymousGuestThank you Wisdom for your encouragement! Peace of mind. I do wish you peace of mind. Those things you think about, that cause you distress, no good comes from thinking again and again, as you know. So how do we stop thinking? By doing and focusing on doing. Doing, but not in an automatic, mindless way but purposefully, mindfully, paying attention to what we are doing with our senses: sight, sound, touch, smell and (not as often): taste.
Mindfulness: Try it, try it and you may like it, I say (a Dr. Seuss way of putting it. Let me know how it works for you.

I don’t comment on replies on threads. I only reply to posts made by the original poster. So I couldn’t reply to the comment you just made on another thread, the one ending with “raining Ferraris.” This is why I brought back your thread, to tell you I think your comment is brilliant and your thinking is as clear as I ever read in your posts so far. My personal congratulation!

May 20, 2016 at 9:33 am #105161WisdomParticipantthank you anita! i’ve really thought about that topic long enough and tried to ration it, but it just didn’t click with me. i still suppose that maybe it only works for some people and some people only, but i’m still not sure. it’s just not something i want my whole life to depend on anymore because it doesn’t do much but cause anxiety. it do however, still believe in destiny. but that’s just all it is, destiny. either something is yours or it’s not. it’s all about luck. and it’s all about whether you’re special or chosen or whatever. i’m kind of over trying to be special because i probably never was in the first place. there are most likey people with greater power and that’s fine. the end goal in life is just to love each other and all that other attainment means nothing. it’s probably all a sidetrack.
but on another note, how are you anita? are you feeling better from that cold you had?
May 20, 2016 at 10:05 am #105164AnonymousGuestDear Wisdom:
Thank you for asking. Yes, I feel better. I like your sentence: “The end goal in life is just to love each other.” I am still impressed, Wisdom. I believe you are right, absolutely!
I also think a whole lot is about luck, where we are born, who we are born to and so much more, every single day.
As far as being “special or chosen”- we did have it in common: we both wanted to be special in the sense of being movie stars and being famous, so the two of us are probably not special that way. But hey, if we can live so “to love each other” your stated goal in life, then each one of us is or can be special, right?
And I like it very much that you abandon ideas that do nothing for you but cause anxiety.
Clear thinking Wisdom, what a delight!

May 20, 2016 at 10:42 am #105169WisdomParticipantit’s really good that you’re feeling better anita.
you’re probably right about the where and when we were born. maybe it has to do with making too like genes and all. or maybe even the star making, i don’t know but i guess that only means that i don’t have to know as of now. i’ll figure it out at some point in life. it’s probably just best to have everyone else to have their dreams come true before you and just watch people get married and have friends and true relationships or be singers and actors and getting to do all those great things. that’s great for them. or maybe they deserved it more than we did. or maybe some people bought their way there. like selling their souls which is really too bad for them since that’s the only thing they ever had. but who knows. it’s just really all silly to want all the things that everybody else is getting when we’re probably already fine as we are. there’s other people in the world that actually need help and we forgt about it because we’re so busy tryna get something that’s so level 2. but just cause we’re on level 1 doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy the game.

More of Wisdom’s clear thinking. I like it: “just because we’re on level 1 doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy the game.” – This brilliant! Your own sentence, you came up with it? This is quotable, worthy to be carved into a rock for many people to read as they walk by. Excellent, says I.
