that’s great to know Jess. Yeah ignoring them or drowning them out won’t make them disappear and they manifest in addictions (can be drugs – illegal and legal, shopping, sex, food, gambling etc) to take us out of that negative state which of course works for a little while, then we’re back in that negative state again.
You do deserve to be here. We all do. If we didn’t deserve to be here we wouldn’t be here. We’re all miracles and we need to act like one and treat ourselves like one.
terriParticipantThis is not your fault. Maybe them yelling at you has triggered something for you? We can’t control how others think, talk and act. Other people can’t ‘make’ us feel anything. There is something in you making you feel this way. Yes we might get pissed off for a while but you have done nothing wrong here. It does sound like something in you may need to be explored
terriParticipantIt’s sounds like you expect too much of yourself.
Please don’t ignore these thoughts you have about yourself. Just trying to think positive isn’t the answer. Life is about experiencing the dark and the light, so explore these thoughts you have. Where does this feeling of uselessness come from?
Also, a lot of people mistake failure and something as being a failure as a person. Failing does not make us a failure.
The past is done, it cannot be changed. I spent years hating myself and beating myself up over the past. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t do that any more and I refuse to live my life with regrets. Be kinder to yourself. What would you say to someone you love or care about if they came to you with your problem?
terriParticipantHey Shirley
The majority of clients I work with all have issues from childhood and it all comes back to the same thing, they blame themselves. Bullying, abuse and anything else that is done to us is not our fault. If you’re blaming yourself in any way for the behaviour of others it needs to stop. It was not your fault. Until you realise this, nothing will change and you will continue to criticise yourself and be unable to accept yourself. I hated myself for the majority of my life because I was abused when I was a little girl. I changed over 35 years of negative programming because I had to, it nearly killed me, literally. Affirmations will not work for deep rooted limiting beliefs so what we have to do is question our thoughts. Our ego will tell us all kinds of nonsense, you’re not good enough, you’re useless blah blah but none of it is true and do not believe every thought you think. You need to start questioning your thoughts. Write down the negative thoughts you have about yourself, you cannot deal with them while they’re running around in your head like crazy. Look for evidence of your thoughts. Are they really true? Where’s the evidence for that? What if they weren’t true? What can I choose to believe instead? I hope this helps xxx
