turning the other cheek– I read somewhere that this is not a literal meaning. It means we don’t react negatively or seek revenge. Gandhi agreed with this concept in promoting non-violent protests.

re highly strung hyena- I must look hilarious to other people sometimes and I am not even aware of it at the time.

there is also the tall poppy syndrome which you may have heard; when average people criticise above average people who stand out. it is evident when people criticise leaders or famous people usually because of envy. I may be guilty of this too. It is more comfortable to be in the critic’s armchair than the one in the hot seat.

when it is turned into humour
John Cleese did that a lot in comedy sketches such as in Fawlty Towers.

You handled that harassment really well, better than I ever could.

It’s that kneejerk reactionary anger that we have to be careful of.
Someone insults us and our negative self-talk goes into meltdown.
If we can just be a curious observer when this happens, but no if you’re like me, I “don’t say anything, just stew”
Instead if I could just treat myself as a third person “Jack feels insulted. He called Jack a loser but Jack knows he’s not a loser because only people who use that word as an insult are losers. Anyway, loser is a word no longer in his vocab.”

I suppose you read their comments and couldn’t “hear” them above the same thoughts circulating in your mind. As long as you have the SAME thoughts, you will have the SAME misery.

    quotable quote…

Omnipresent Ollie- this guy is delusional. he thinks he is God. He thinks he is wise, he thinks he is special,he looks down on mere mortals, it’s hard to relate to humans so he feels lonely He has team meetings with Wise Jack and Llama Jack. He gets annoyed with Jack’s one liners and irreverence because he wants to be taken seriously….Wise and Omni then have to take over and ask Llama to leave.
