You could start with an app like insight timer, whicht offers both silent and guided meditations. Also you could read some more about meditating, for instance from jon kabat zinn if you want to try mindfulness meditation. There are many different forms of meditation with different practices, viewpoints and effects; you don’t need to figure this all out in advance but it can be useful to explore the differences and see what resonates with you most. For meditations that helps with feeling negative (about yourself) you could try some self-compassion guided meditations by Kristin Neff. Also finding a group or a teacher nearby can help your practice and understanding tremendously.
