Hi Holly!
Kudo’s to you for being so brave to put this out in the universe! I have been sober for over 3 1/2 years. I will admit at first it’s tough. You will have your good days and bad days. I don’t want to sugar coat anything.
However, with time life gets better. Life improves. Your health improves, your relationships improve.
Keep going! If you need support, an ear to listen, I’m here!
Tara
TaraParticipantHello-
It’s never a good situation when you “hate” your job. Think of all the energy you’re using just to say how much you dislike your job? I’m sorry you’re faced with this situation.
I recently quit my job back in February 2016. Why? Because I too “hated” my job. It made me miserable, I was extremely unhappy and depressed and surrounded by people who did not appreciate me or my hard work.
The best advice I can give you is to listen to your heart. If it’s time to go, then you know what to do. Life is way too short to be miserable. If you’re worried about money, just know you can correct course along the way and find a temporary job until you find the correct job that suits you. Make yourself a priority and things will fall into place.

After reading your post, you know what jumped out to me? THIS:
Every day I feel cooped up, unhappy, not belonging. These are your words. These are the problems you wish to resolve.
So without jumping to a conclusion of moving out or moving abroad, write down the three problems you wish to resolve on a piece of paper. Next to each problem, list a solution. For example: I can start doing more of what makes me happy by doing ________ to be happier. I can start spending more time with my peers and friends so I feel like I belong. I can make a commitment to only spend so much time at home so I don’t feel cooped up.
See if you can start with this. I do advocate living on your own as a young adult, however, you may find that living on your own affords you more time with yourself (which is a great thing! Explore who you are!), but it can be a scary thing when you are battling these three dilemmas.
All the best.
TaraTaraParticipantHi Anita!
Thanks for starting this thread! I’m new to the Tiny Buddha forums, but I’m very excited to be here! I joined Tiny Buddha because I run my own site that is similar to this one, but no where near what Lori has done! (She’s a saint!)
I initially started my own site because I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t fulfilled and longed for happiness and personal fulfillment.
I’m excited to be here and to connect with you! Thanks for having me!
