    Dear Carrie,

I would love to speak with you on this topic.

How can I take you up on this?

    In care,

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Absolutely! Would love to help you with anything I can!

Are you comfortable sharing things here? I would be happy to reply and maybe those answers will be helpful to others as well?

For more sensitive things – I think there isn’t an option to send a direct message to someone on here, but maybe I can share my email or create a new email for these? In any case, I would suggest only sharing anonymised information. For example, I can help you optimise the description of your last role (for your CV), but to do that I won’t need any details about the company, your location or anything like that. Just the general description of responsibilities.

I’m open to suggestions in case you think of any other options. 🙂

    Best wishes,

    Carrie

    Hi Carrie,

N/p. As you can see, I did it too! 😉 Sorry about that.

Thank you for your offer. I’d generally prefer to use email, but understand your wanting to share with the community.

    My situation’s a little funky…

My work history is all over the place! I think it looks awful on paper, even when I use a skills-based format.

Additionally, my most recent jobs (the ones I would put on a resume) don’t reflect what I do want to do for work, even more so than my further-back history. It’s more a case of I have a vague idea of what I want to do, and a much clearer idea of what I *don’t* from those past experiences.

Thirdly, I’m right at that age where it starts to become That Discriminating Factor That No One Wants to Talk About. I wouldn’t worry as much about that if I’d had a solid career (or at least career path) up to now, but being a middle-aged dilettante isn’t allowed like it often is for the young’uns– especially if you’re trying to market yourself as a professional!

I have no criminal history or drug abuse issues, but feel like these and other factors compromise my prospects at least as much.

So… what do you think? 😀
