When you choose love over fear you have to evaluate the situation first. If there is real danger, the fear is valid and you should protect yourself and choose accordingly. If there is no real danger, then maybe choosing love is wiser.
When the car broke down before the legal transaction, the real danger was that you were buying a broken car, wasting money. You had a choice at that time, to cancel the transaction or to significantly lower the price you were about to pay for the car so to make it worthwhile for you. If you didn’t do either, you ignored the danger of ending up with a broken car and wasting money that could otherwise be spent on what would serve you.
In other words, it was not a spiritual matter that failed you that day, it was you not evaluating the situation before choosing that spiritual principle.
