He gave you very little information on why he broke up with you. Reads to me that he planned on what to tell you (a very small portion and a very vague part of what was going on in his head for some time), and then told you what he did. He probably wanted to not hurt your feelings, so he kept some information to himself for that reason. Maybe he wanted to avoid conflict and difficulties for himself if he shared more than he did, so he didn’t.

Any clues as to the information he didn’t share with you recently? )He may have shared bits and pieces of it with you way before the breakup, things that bothered him about his life. his family/you)?
