Hi,
I came across lot of info on metta meditation and i wish to practice it. Any guidance on this will be of great help to me.

When you feel distressed, your heart beating fast, your breathing shallow, slow down. Sit somewhere comfortably, or lie down, and say to yourself: shhhh…it’s okay. I am okay. Slow down your breathing, inhale slowly, exhale slowly. Sh… it’s okay. “I can take good care of myself. I am okay.”
When you are lonely and depressed, put your arms around the front of your body, hug yourself. “it’s okay. I will be okay. This too shall pass. I will feel better, soon”
When you think critically about yourself, beating you up for mistakes and such, calm yourself again, say: “I do not beat myself up. I need love, not beating up, not hate, not violence. I need love. Sh…. hush yourself. “I need love and I deserve love. I am lovable. I love me.

The practice consists of a wish for something positive for yourself, for someone you love, for someone you know casually, for someone with whom you are having difficulty, and finally, for all sentient beings. What you wish can be simply “loving kindness,” but I find it’s more effective if I am very specific about what I wish for whom.
Metta is particularly helpful for changing how we feel, and then act, toward people with whom we are having difficulty, but the whole process is helpful. It’s not a quick cure, but with each repetition of metta, the seeds of loving kindness toward the objects of the practice, including yourself, will be watered.

Metta Meditation is new to me . But I practice Meditation and would like to share my thoughts on it.
Meditation is of two types. One is when you focus your mind on an object, on a thought or a problem. The other type is to make your mind blank and just relax without any thoughts or worries and try to connect to a higher level of consciousness. The first type draws out the potential from your deepest mind and brings it forth to your conscious mind.This kind of meditation can be directive and creative.But this cannot calm down the mind as the mind is very deeply active, in conscious and in subconscious state. This however,can make the mind very powerful.
