We Live Unbound: An Inspiring Video About What’s Possible
So much is possible, if we’re willing to believe it.
That doesn’t mean we have no limitations beyond the ones we set in our mind; simply believing that something is possible doesn’t guarantee it will happen. But it does create the possibility that it could.
That’s what makes us feel alive: taking bold action toward possibility, knowing that the goal isn’t to control what will happen tomorrow. It’s to create a sense of freedom as we choose what will happen today.
Are you living unbound?

Flash Mob of Cancer Survivors: Closer to Free
I’m a huge fan of flash mobs. There’s something about a seemingly random, slow-building display of mass creativity and joy that never fails to make me smile. This one, featuring a group of cancer survivors and a children’s choir, gave me goosebumps. Beautiful voices. Beautiful spirit. Beautiful message of hope.

Perfection: A Short Film About the Pressure to Achieve
We push, and strive, and struggle, and succeed, and then want more of that. More of people approving of us. More of people expecting things from us, and us proving that we can deliver. We consent to play the game, to be our best or die trying. What would happen, though, if we decided to stop playing?

An Inspiring Message from Wounded Veterans to Boston Marathon Survivors
As someone who’s from Boston and has been visiting this past month, I’m proud. I’m proud of the way the community has come together, offering their hearts, homes, and hospitality to others in need.
I’m proud of the way survivors are channeling gratitude for living through the tragedy, even while they begin the process of healing physically and emotionally.
And I’m proud of the many efforts people are taking around the country to help those directly affected as they adjust to their new realities and learn how to not just survive, but thrive.
“We stand with you.” That’s the message we’re sending as a collective, and it’s the heart of this inspiring video with words of wisdom from wounded veterans. Despite their injuries, they still live bold, passionate, engaged lives, and they want anyone who fears that might not be an option to know just how much is possible.
The video comes from Shoulder-to-Shoulder, a Virginia-based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Visit The One Fund to help those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Possibility of Today Video Interview with Lori Deschene
I have done everything in my power to avoid video interviews. When I did my blog tour for my book, Tiny Buddha: Simple Wisdom for Life’s Hard Questions, I did mostly written interviews, after pushing for that. As a writer, I enjoy taking time to gather my thoughts and communicate precisely what I want to say.
But I’m far less enthused when it comes to being on camera—especially when that camera is a webcam that’s two feet away from my face.
Still, when my new friend Sibyl of The Possibility of Today suggested a video interview, I decided to oblige; after all, comfort zones are meant for stretching.
After we spoke, I felt confident I spoke straight my heart, and I was excited to see the interview once it was edited. Then I saw it. And I seriously considered not sharing it.
Because I was a little nervous on that day, I found myself feeling distracted by my own face in the tiny box on Skype. So instead of looking directly at Sibyl while I spoke, I darted my eyes back and forth in an attempt to keep my focus.
When I first watched this video, I felt insecure and self-conscious. As a perfectionist, I sometimes find it tempting to scrutinize things I do in ways I doubt other people would. Then I watched the video again and listened to my words—particularly this one part about learning not to be hard on myself.
There I was, doing just that.
I realized then that this is a perfect result for this video interview I was nervous to give, because it provides an opportunity to reflect my own words back to myself and really walk my walk.
So here it is: a tiny video, straight from my heart.

51 Things That Will Make You Smile
Some days, it’s easy to smile. You wake up to the sounds of birds chirping, with the warm glow of the morning sun cradling your face. You take several deep, cleansing breaths standing beneath a perfectly cascading shower, just before drawing a smiley face on the steamed-up glass with your index finger.
Your roommate or significant other makes your coffee, just the way you like it. You hit every traffic light. You sing to your favorite tunes. And you arrive at work refreshed, excited, and anxious to create and collaborate.
But not every day starts this way. Sometimes you wake up to chaos, in your head or in the world around you. You hit snags, and bumps, and roadblocks at every turn. You try too hard, or don’t try enough, and things fall apart, or things fall short.
You struggle, you fight yourself and other people, and you find yourself wishing you could stop the world so you could get off for a while.
But there is an alternative. When things go wrong, you can fall down or look up. You can shut down or wake up, all over again, starting from right where you stand. You can accept that the days won’t always look bright, but commit to finding something worth smiling about. Not sure what that might be? No worries, friends! I have a few ideas…. (more…)

Be Part of the First Tiny Buddha YouTube Video
As you may have noticed, there’s been a Tiny Buddha YouTube channel up for months now. There have been nearly 3,000 views on the page but, thus far, there aren’t any videos on there.
Today is the day that changes!
Since I launched this website in the fall of 2009, Tiny Buddha has been all about community.
Each week, I publish 4 blog posts from Tiny Buddha readers. I’ve published nearly a dozen posts that incorporated wisdom from members of the Tiny Buddha Facebook page. I even included tweets from Tiny Buddha Twitter followers in my upcoming book (available through Conari Press at the end of the year!)
It seems to me that the best way to launch the Tiny Buddha YouTube channel is to feature a video that includes all of you.
The Video Topic: What Makes You Smile?
The first Tiny Buddha video is going to about all about happiness–more specifically, the things that make you smile. Think about the things that bring you the most joy: your baby laughing, your dog rolling around in leaves, the sun setting at the beach.
Now go and get it on camera! It can be a short clip, and it doesn’t need to be professional quality (though, of course, the clearer, the better). You can be in the shot, or it can be just the thing you love. Whatever makes you happy!
The result will be a collection of short clips from Tiny Buddha readers from all over the world, all edited together into one feel-good video. (more…)
